hey guys, new to forum. have had a search through but cant find anything helpful except 'steer clear'
i am in New Zealand and am eying up a nissan stagea with a Us Vh41 (low km import) in it, car is built well and heaps off goodies in it, worth more than hes asking, am keen as on it but was wondering about the crank.

People say to stay clear of them, because they done have the cranks girdle, can anyone actually tell me if they were removed because they realiased it was overkill? or has any body actually had trouble with one and not just tell me they are crap because they lost the girdle?

6 bolt main am i right? would i kill it?

thanks guys

So you are correct that they got rid of the crank girdle.. I know there's not too many people with US VH41's that have highly modified those engines in terms of boost, however we do know they do that in their stock form they last a long time..

Note that the US VH41 stock redline was 6500 RPM, where the VH45 was 6900 and can easily be pushed to 7400 RPM reliably. The VH41 also puts out 266 HP, and while the VH45 was rated at 278HP, we know that stock they put out more like 300, and about 330-340 with a tune.

I wouldn't call the US VH41 junk by any means, however if you were planning on using boost or cranking up the power some other way, the VH45 would probably be a better base to start from.

Welcome to NICO mate!! :)
