I just saw this crop up on my Facebook newsfeed from a local gun shop.
We are considering suspending sales of firearms for non-American citizens. People from countries like Jamaica, Barbados, Domican Republic, Mexico, Iran, Armenia’s ect seem to end-up stolen or in crimes much more then from American citizens.

What do you think?
So my question is, what are the laws on non-citizens who are legal residents that hold a green card?

Furthermore, without proof of statistics on this matter, their claims on these people are crazy.

What are your thoughts on this? I thought this was quite an interesting topic to discuss.

First thing that came to mind was what dre1507 said "Nationalism".

I see them possibly getting sued maybe for racial discrimination.. But in all honesty they are just trying to protect the local residents I mean they are the ones choosing to not SELL the guns to these minorities which in turn will hurt their sales and possibly reputation.

Keep us informed with what transpires.

if the law says they can purchase firearms after jumping through all the mandated hoops, they should be able to purchase. any store can refuse service to anyone at any time, but refusing to do so on the grounds of a person's country of origin is just wrong on so many levels.

While the stated intent seems to be honorable (keeping guns out of the hands of people who probably should not have them), the criteria for making that determination is completely wrong. Frankly, their stated intent is likely a guise for discrimination. It might be interesting to hear what this shop's general position is on gun control and if their position is consistent with the stated intent...

Their policy seems ripe for a lawsuit.

Seems they're unwilling to do business with a good portion of the east coast.

I agree that keeping firearms out of the hands of unqualified people is important. Their post is ignorant at best. There are unqualified people of all races etc. With that said, here is their newest post...
When a firearm that we have sold ends up stolen or in a crime, the BATF notifies us and we are required to inform law enforcement of the purchaser. Over 80% of our traces are all from non-citizens of countries that I listed.

Even if such a claim was true, if the purchaser followed all procedures and was not a straw purchaser, it's not a defensible reason to deny a customer the purchase. You can't practice precognizant vigilante restriction of commerce. Some lawyer is going to drag them into court and shut their business down.

My thoughts exactly.. That last statement they said doesn't help their case either.
