Urgent, Some please reply

I went back to the infiniti dealership to tell them about the springing noises whenever I turn the wheel to extreme left or right.

infiiniti looked at it and they said I need 2 R/F upper Strut mount. they said each of these cost about $600 each + labor. i asked them what would happen if i dont get it done in time and they said the extreme worst case scenario is that the wheel wouldn't turn the way I want it to turn.

anyway, my question is, is this situation a case where I can take it somewhere else for them to fix cheaper?? like Keith of manville???

before I put in the money for them to take care of this, i want yall's opinion. also, to replace my fog light thats broken they said it would cost me $252 + labor.

i took it to a local shop called vespias and they nicely asked i take it to the dealership because they didn't wanna touch it

I know you can get the upper Strut mounts cheaper with minimal research. I Also don't think they are very hard to install, but then again what I find easy isn't always easy, I just enjoy doing it.

I have found that most mechanics won't touch the Infiniti because of the suspension, so If you can't do it yourself then you need peace of mind that it's done right.

Is there no one else who will install them beside the Dealership? Just call everyone in your phonebook. Otherwise bite the bullet. The car is worth it.

Call Joe and see how much they are. That sounds like a bit of a rip off. If your changing the mounts, you should change the shocks, too. I'm nit one of the experts in the forum but I'm sure that's right.

I have heard the 1998-2001 front suspension is a bear, I ahve never looked at one, that closely.

I could replace my 1994's, in about 2 hours, in my carport.

Try Joe, for the parts costs, and try a good tire store/garage, for the labor costs.

$600 each + labor sounds a bit high.

Just don't take very tight turns, for a while (just kidding).

Look at the other posts, about suspension upgrades, for this model Q. You might get an upgrade, for about the same price as OEM.

I agree... I remember the strut mounts being about $40 each or something like that.. I wouldnt assume the Y33 ones would be much different.

Since you are in NJ, look up Kieth Vanmeter's number in the previous posts. You may well want to visit him.

Prices sound like dealer maximum plus their extra markup.

Wes is only about $100 off on cost of front strut inserts from Joe.

upper Strut mount does not equal strut insert!!!! THe strut mounts are only those little metal things that are on the top of the shock/strut assy.....

Sorry for getting off on that tanget...

The problem may be the strut mounts (at 50ish each), but at 170k youll need to replace everything.. The difference is amazing.

My stuff at 120k was pretty well shot, couldnt imagine going another 50k!!!
