ok, i was *attempting* to do the "sleepy-eye" mod on my 240 this afternoon, and i did what i've been told, splice a switch into the "blue wire with silver stripes......"

~begin rant~ DAMMIT, HOW CAN NISSAN MAKE THREE (count 'em, three) BLUE WIRES WITH SILVER STRIPES IN THE EXACT SAME DAMN BUNDLE OF WIRES!??!?!?!!11!??1?!11 ~end rant~

i tried all three wires and since there is NO length to work with, i had to use T-taps to splice longer wires in so i could re-attach them with out messing anything up. well, somehow i MUST have mixed up one of the (three) blue wires with silver stripes and now my RADIO wont come on. . .everything in the car works, accept the CD player. it will eject and take CD's, but the face wont come on and it wont play anything...can someone PLEASE tell me what these (three blue) F*CKING wires are for? (they sure as HELL arent for the headlight motors...)

if someone could just give me an inkling of whats wrong with my radio, or what these three wires are really for, i would greatly appreciate it. . .

otherwise, im going to shoot myself in the face

thanks,TP

Im sitting here with my 91-94 240sx Nissan Factory Manual (the real deal) and I am only seeing one SB (silver/blue): Headlamp timer, Retract relay.

Tell me this does your interior lights still come on ?

Sounds like one of those wires may be the acc turn on wire. Your radio receives two signals. The always on +12 volt signal and the switched (acc) +12 volt signal. You somehow killed the switched wire. I'd check the fuses first. If they all work, I'd follow the wires. Wonder who told you it was one of those wires...

all interior lights work...everything seems A- OKAY, accept the damn CD player...and i will check the fuses tomorrow, but there were three wires, and now they are (most likely) mixed up and everything still works like it should accept the radio....is there a chance that these three wires are actually all the same wire? just routed 3 times through the same harness?...i mean, they all do look the same, but it doesnt make sense to do anything that way...f*ckin' japs, lol

Slight chance that the same color wire was ran 3 times in the same space. I am thinking maybe some color fadeing has happened . Here are the 3 blue wire listings from the book :

1. SB : Headlamp timer, Retract relay2. R/B : Interior lamp, Radio, Audio, Clock, Warning chime, Time control unit, and auto antenna timer.3. OR/B : Cigarette lighter

If this is true , try labeling all 3 wires with sticky numbers on each ends. This only leaves you with limited wiring options and you are bound to find the correct pattern. And quick question have you read the thread on doing the sleepy eye with a clip of the Brown wire off the actual headlamp switch ? I did it, very simple and works great . Good luck in the wire hunting and sorry couldnt offer a solution.

maybe the factory was out of blue wire that day... I imagine that when stuff like that happens they just take a shortcut like I do . But check the fuses, and some radio decks have their own fuse on them as a sort of backup. So you might want to check on the back or get the manual for the deck (dont know if it is a stock one or not.)
