Can you please help me with replacing my spark plugs? I have a 1994 Infiniti Q45t V8. Ive never owned a car that the spark plugs were not easy to get to and not sure how to go about replacing them.I'm very picky about who works on my car and want to make sure it's done right. We bought Boshe plugs but after reading everyones articles on here I'm not sure if I should use them.I'm traveling 250 miles Saturday morning for my family reunion and need to change them before I go.Please help me! Any help will be very much appreciated. Thank You, Paula

Follow goody94q45's link to q45.org for the plug R&R

Here is the direct link to the '94 Q45 FSMhttp://www.phatg20.net/modules...d=203

And here's a few posts concerning plugs:zerothread/228026 zerothread?id=35940

And the bosch plug pic which should aid in steering you away from them.

Good luck

I never had issues with my bosch plugs for 20k but I replaced them with NGK's before I did have an issue.

Were yours the 4 pronged electrode pictured above or a single electrode?

I had the Bosch plugs, and they were crap in the Q45. I jsut about burned up a cylinder because the electrodes disintegrated. The coil pack was nearly ruined, too.

I made it 50K on them before I had trouble. The car runs SO much better on the NGK's now.

Figure it will take you about 2.5 hours to change all 8 plugs if you do it right. Be sure to clean the coil packs and put a little grease on the tips of the plugs. Make sure the black plastic covers go back on and all the little allen screws are tight. Water is not good in this area. Blow out the plug cylinders with compressed air before you unscrew the plugs the last couple of turns, to get all the dust and crap out that has made it's way in there over the last 100,000 miles.

Good luck!

Paula, why must you change them before you go on your trip? Are they scheduled to be changed at this moment or is the motor actually misfiring because of them? If it's just at the mileage point where plugs are recommended to be changed, they should be fine for this trip. Many people go WAY past the suggested change interval with no issues. It's better to take it slow when you have a period of time that won't rush the job than rush through it and potentially make a mistake just because they're due for a change.
