ok so i finished my swap about three weeks ago on my track car, i dont drive it on the street too much but i have been trying to break it in before a track day. here is the problem. the car runs amazing for the first 10 minutes but as soon as you drive it for any distance more than 10 miles or so and its been at N.O.T for ahwile it starts to miss a few times randomly, then when u turn it off and back on its completely down one cylinder. and runs like crap.. its an rb20 w/ a 25 turbo fmic 3" dp 255 fp. replaced all the plugs w/ bcpr6es' and replaced three coil packs that were worn out .. still have the same problem.. i dont have a fp gauge on it, vacuum is normal.. it seems as if the heat is messing w/ it, but its not overheating..

it could be the other 3 coils. Chances are if the first 3 were messing up, the next 3 arent far behind.

Also check the ignitor/harness.

Being heat related, thats where I'd start.

i plan on replacing the other three i have a set of 6 good ones but i didnt wanna have to go that far so i had some spares, and what can i do for the ignitor/harness i dont have a spare ignitor ..

in more recent news i decided to see if the fuel pressure might be too low for some reason bad fp etc.. so i clamped the return line slightly to increase pressure and my fuel pump fuse keeps blowing like instantaneously new fuses etc.. bad wiring, pump, it shouldnt be that easy right

It is running like crap because the ecu is in limp mode, it doesnt know how much fuel to send to the motor because the 02 sensor isnt plugged in. ;)

well ive run cars w/ no o2 in the past and my buddies rb20 i unplugged his o2 and it did nothing .. also i have a wideband im gonna install asap this issue seems so random.. so i rechecked and redid my wiring reset my timing cuz it was at 20 and i set it back to 16ish and drove it home it drove perfect for 30 min or so ... got home it was kinda starting to miss under full accell.. parked the car two days later go to start it up and its missing at idle again and i cant even try to accel or it cuts out hard.. it almost dies on accell ..

Im not guessing im telling you the ecu is in limp mode. did you drive your friends car around why it was unplugged? I had the same problem wit my kat it was dumping to much fuel then i realize the o2 was unplugged. I would change the plugs then install o2 and try.

The job of the 02 is to read the air fuel ratio then send that data to the ecu. in turn the ecu sends signal to injectors the injectors recieve the signal and no when and how much to squirt. when you interupt that signal the ecu goes haywire. thanx

So you crimped a hard line and now the fuel pump fuse blows?

Maybe you should fix that and cross one issue off the list....

not a hard line u put pressure on the soft line to up fuel pressure.. ill try the o2 sensor tonight .. i dont have to run shielded wire from teh signal to the o2 sensor right cuz i have to wire mine up it got all mangled in transit..

Honestly on the whole shielded wire thing i would get with carl h on that. im letting him do my harness because wiring is not my forte. :dblthumb: But you will get it just take your time, dont rush or something will break. :yesnod

i was reading it didnt need to be shielded etc.. ill have to rig up the heater power /ground to an ign source i guess since idk where the old p/g wires went i only have the signal wire in that loom.. but im gonna replace the ignitor and ecu tonight w/ good working ones..

sounds like classic rb ignitor or coil failure...especially since you say its heat dependent.
