Cars have 12V batteries. I'm pretty sure most of the electronics in them are designed to run on 12V because of this (and as such, there aren't many pull-down transformers). That said, if your car has a USB port, that should put out 5V, and current is drawn, not pushed, so the 100mA max shouldn't cause you any trouble since that port should put out at least 100mA and likely puts out between 500mA and 2A. If the car doesn't have a USB port, you can get a cig power -> USB adapter, as there are lots of those for charging phones and other devices. If you want to hide it, you can try to get such an adapter and disassemble it so you can access the wires instead of the contacts, and then you could put it somewhere hidden.
