Ok, here's the scoop. I decided to clean out the oil restrictor, it snapped off when I tried taking it out. I knocked in the head of a phillips head screw driver in the hopes that I can twist out the remaining threads..........Didnt happen. The phillips head snapped off (about 3/4") in the block. I got a 1/4" titanium bit and started to drill it out but I got just about 1/16" of an inch off the screwdriver bit and i noticed that when I drilled about 1/2" into the block have a half moon thing happening. In the hole I drilled, the bottom half is covered with the screw bit, then theres a space in the middle where I can see a hole, and the top half is the block. It looks like it keeps going. Now here's the question I have.... Is there any part I can take off the engine so I can see the inside of the block where Im drilling? I dont want to go through and hit anything or go too far. I have a feeling that Im off track with this hole and I know I cant make it bigger or Ill have more problems.

I really need this fixed and I only have one day off this week to actually take a look into this problem.... Also, this is the only concern I have with this engine. Once this is fixed, im set. I really dont want to screw this up...

SUGGESTIONS PLEASE!!

My suggestion- Drop it off at a machine shop and tell em to give you a call when it's all sorted out. Sounds like you need some serious surgery on it.

This is MUCH more major than you think it is. If you punch a hole in the water-jacked, you will ruin the block. Probabally beyond repair. Take it to a machine shop and let them deal with it.

w00t... I got out the old head bit and i made the hole about 1/4". I can probably go bigger but I dont know how long the actual threading is on the restrictor. Can someone please supply me with that info please?

Thanks =D

Hi Cory, give me a call tomorrow around 5pm and I will try and find the one I have and measure it for you.

I drilled a 1/4" hole in the block where the restrictor was. Ive never tapped anything before so I don't know all the rules. I know that I would get a bit 1 size larger so I can create threads.

What size bit should I use to rethread the hole?

Got myself a helicoil kit... that 1/4" is equal to 6mm in metric. It should all be good now =)
