hi guys would the 93 300zx Auto non TT transmission be a straight swap with the 93 J30?my transmission broke and now i need to replace it. i can get 300zx rebuild for cheaper than a J30 used one.

all help and advice appreciated.

same transmission, but the output shaft might be different (where the drive shaft connect to the transmission), i'm sure that the TT transmission has a different output shaft diameter

but i'm NOT SURE if the non turbo 300zx transmission would have a same/different output shaft diameter than the J30 (so check the output shaft diameter before you buy the transmission, because if it is different, then you will need a custom drive shaft, they cost upwards of 250$), if there is two sizes for the output shaft, take the smaller one, that is the one that would fit correctly into the driveshaft.... (both transmissions have the same code, so most likely it wont be different anyway)

other than that everything will bolt in just fine, you will be missing the rev sensor (most 300zx transmissions dont have the rev sensor, but most J30's have them), so you will have one less connection to make (the transmission would work just fine without it, however, every time you start the engine, the A/T light will blink a few times and then goes away)

the wiring is all the same (except for the rev sensor, the rev sensor is NOT the RPM sensor)

keep the transmission mount from the J30, you might need it (it fits better on to the body)

i hope this helps, good luck

is it a hard job to fix the output shaft if it is different?

would the transmission need to be disassembled for it?

the output shaft is part of the transmission (it is integrated into it, and cannot be modified), it transfers the power from the transmission to the Drive Shaft

if it is of a different size than the J30 (which i doubt, i think they might be the same size, but the TT transmission does have a bigger output shaft for sure), then you will need a custom Drive Shaft to make things work

again, i doubt that the output shaft size is different (if you are getting one from a non turbo 300zx), but just to stay on the safe side, check it to make sure

the size of the drive shaft yoke (the part that connects to the output shaft) is available in the Factory service manual, look up the 300zx service manual too, and compare the sizes

sorry bro but i'm really a novice at this stuff.

i found a 300zx FSM here: http://www.300zx-twinturbo.com...al=43

what am i looking for. i don't have the J's FSM. can someone tell me if it is the same please?i have to make a decision soon to buy and ship a transmission.

I'm not that familiar with the Nissan Transmission design. Do they use a slip yoke like a Chevy transmission? If so, could why couldn't I take the output shaft from the original transmission and put it into the used replacement?

The spline/OD/ID should be the same right?
