So, a little back story. My exhaust was pretty balls from the last guy who owned it. Then my resonator got caught on something because it hung too low, bent the metal, and was dragging on the ground. Temporarily fixed the exhaust by having it bent sort of back into place, etc, very temporary, I should have bought a new exhaust already.
Well, the temp fix is obviously failing me. When I decelerate, I have to immediately throw it in neutral or else I'll hear a loud metal on metal banging and horrible vibration in the car from the RPM dropping and exhaust shaking. At first I thought it was just my exhaust banging against my diff since it's so extremely close but I have a feeling it might be banging on something else, possibly the driveshaft, also very little clearance there.
Anyway, here's where it stands right now. Greddy header is cracked at EGR, welded, cracked again, welded, cracked again. Tired of dealing with it. It's leaking where it meets the downpipe (Greddy headers need a downpipe, they're much shorter than normal KA headers). The downpipe is very rusty, a muffler shop special if you will. Multiple exhaust leaks everywhere. I have to replace every exhaust component on the car. What I need: A new header, cat, catback exhaust.
I need header recommendations. I want to keep my EGR and both O2 sensors. I want a Hotshot but those seem impossible to find. Would OBX be adequate? Any other recommendations?
I emailed Greg recently inquiring about a BRM exhaust. I told him I was worried about the second O2 sensor since I have an S14. I don't want any check engine lights. He said he could weld in a bung but would need a measurement. What kind of measurement and how would I find that out? Nut size? Thread pitch?
What would be the best thing to do here? Should I buy a header with the second O2 bung? If it has the bung, would it throw a CEL where it's at on the header? If so, would I want to plug that bung and have one welded at the cat from Greg? Here's a picture of my second O2 sensor, located right after the cat. http://img.photobucket.com/alb...0.jpg. Sort of gives an insight to how the rest of it looks. I live in North Texas, making the rust even more laughable.
I really don't know what to do here, I'm stressing out. I feel like I've been doing research for days and getting nowhere. I need this fixed. I don't even care about the money any more.
