yeah.. i finally gave in to the idea of this swap, there are only a handful( maybe more ) of 300sx owners, the 300sx is a VG30 powered 240.. kinda smart heh, but i was shunned away from this swap by other people because of the difficulty ( which is not rather all that difficult, it just takes time and effort), i will be doing this swap in the next few months, the car will be a complete drag car yet still be streetable. the VG30DET(T) is a completly more powerful and venerable motor then the SR,CA,KA-T, RB20, RB25 that i know of, there have been many complaints about the RB26DETT vs. VG30DETT and if you dont believe me on the fact that there is no replacement for displacement, the fastest Nissan in the world ( http://www.theexperience.com/video.htm ) is powered by a VQ, the next generation of VG, here is another video of a still streetable VQ car (http://www.theexperience.com/record.htm).. also, there are a few videos of a VG30DET powered 240SX on http://videos.streetfire.net/P...0&p=0 , the guy is a member on FreshAlloy and his fastest time is 11.3 with full interior and stock settings throughout the car, the motor is still on the stock block, the stock T02B ( T25 Exhaust housing) maxes out stock at about 400hp with and sometimes without supporting mods) if you do not believe me on the whole VG power thing, try http://www.z32power.com/z32power/site/default.asp there are many videos suggesting the Z32 and also the VG30DETT is seriously nothing to play around about. i have to research a little on the fastest skyline in the world is running a 7.2 in the quarter but im not really sure what he is powered by, http://www.exvitermini.com for videos of many different cars, the world's fastest SR20 is also on there. Thanks and Wish Me Luck in the coming months, i should have the project completed in under 2 months and thats at the very max of course i will need labor and money but.. i can use the shop for that. I will post pics up on many different forums. I do not want this swap to get too, too popular though, i would just like for people to realize that Nissan is the best all around Japanese Car - Manufacturer and i stand behind that strongly and proudly... Wes

On a second note, Z1 Motorsports ( http://www.z1motorsports.com/ ) has a few performance packages ( http://www.z1motorsports.com/i...6_343 ) i will be purchasing in the coming days, weeks after i complete the swap.. i will use Z1 and Jim Wolf.. i believe my first purchase will definetly have to be a POP Air Filter.

well thats cool i guess. i didnt know you were planning on making like a 1000hp or something. if you arent then im sure theres a lot better/easier options. it is a unique swap, i just wouldnt think it would be worth it. thats just my opinion.

my friend got his z32 done at z1, it took them quite a while but they did a pretty good job. only problem i heard about was that it was leaking boost. hes pushing like 400hp last time i talked to him. but he spent like 10k at z1, but that was for the motor, brake upgrade, from bumper, and some other stuff.

yeah.. that is the attitude alot of people have, which i dont mind at all.. i like challenges, it keeps me busy, you know? i am planning to make the RMS13 and full on drag car after i get another Nissan of some sort for a daily driver than i can fix up quite nice but still have some moderate power. i wont be spending THAT much at Z1, just the stage one power pack and i will be spending the rest of my money at JWT.. i am hoping to be past 350-400hp in the first month with just bolt ons, on the dyno a stock S13 has a drivetain loss of i believe anywhere from 20% to 25% so.. the VG30DET(T) has 300hp at the FW and 283tq. also at the flywheel so after the drivetain losses are factored in, the power at the wheels is around 250 - 265 for both the horsepower and the torque numbers. im not even sure what the VG's stock block can handle.

how much power are you looking at making when you are "done" with it? I say "done" because theres always something more you wanna do to make it faster. i think you should just rb28 it.

well, if u have read my profile on AIM, there is a VG30 making over 1200hp, it would be nice to achieve that over a span of a few or more years, something gradual yet fun to keep me occupied. 1200hp in my now 2550lb ( nowhere near done with weight reduction) could be crazy.. i would have the edge on the smaller and bigger cars.. first of all, the smaller cars have limits to what they can fit in their engine bays but they have a weight advantage on me, sometimes.. the larger cars have a disadvantage on me because of their larger mass and weight, they may have an advantage over me because of their large engine bay.. the reason why i dont go with an RB ( minus the RB30, too rare and were only made in Aussie and a few in Japan but.. they are rarer in Japan than Aussie, Holden made them but licensed them to Nissan to power their Commodores, some of the fastest cars in Aussie) plus the RB28 and the RB30 already have other engine components added to them IE : RB25 or RB26 block with RB25 heads or RB26 heads ( can go either way and also with larger components such as larger crankshaft and a larger diameter piston and beefier rods found in the RB26) the RB26,28, and 30 are way more expensive to build than the VG, the only drawback to putting a VG in an S13 is the engine bay capacity, and plus installing and building the VG over the RB series would be cheaper because of the VG parts availiable stateside.

RB26's can make 1200 hp+ i have no idea how much or how difficult parts would be for that. or what the weight diff is between the vg and rb26.

i do know this but.. look at the price of RB26's with RB25 trannies compared to VG's with VG trannies.. the VG also has more power throughout the powerband and its availiable earlier in the powerband than the RB26. the VG also has more torque availiable earlier than the RB26. it would cost 5k or more just for the RB26 with RB25 transmission plus installing it. it woule be harder to rebuild the RB26 also.. that leads back to the statement of VG parts are readily availiable stateside compared to the RB.. i dont think you can do into your local speed shop and order a 1.2mm thick headgasket for your RB26DETT.. its a thought plus.. think of the money i would be saving that would offset the cost of buying a VG over an RB. the weight differance wouldnt be that much seeing as most of the motor and vital necessities would be behind the front axle or right over it..

all those emoticons are expressing my feelings for the said link.. give me more of an argument than that, i looked at that earlier and all that is is some little kid with no sense of direction in motor.. im pretty much set in my voyage to get this motor in, i actually talk to one of the guys on Freshalloy.. his sn is 300sx, i havent talked him in awhile but i did ask him the fitment issues that go along with fitting the VG into the engine bay, i will have to move the master cylinder and brake booster around for fitment of the VG into the engine bay starting out, i will more than likely get new exhaust manifolds made so i can prohibit the use of the twin turbos until i can get a single turbo set up for the VG. the steering rack does interfere with the oil pan but that issue can and will be resolved in the coming months by using another pan from an Inifiniti, i will have to post the thread that 300sx( the Freshalloy member that has already done said swap). i will also have to reshape the transmission tunnel to fit the larger Z32 transmission in. the wire harness will be no problem seeing as how i can just go ahead and use the stock Z32 wire harness and ECU to splice it in with the chassis, i will be eliminating half of the dash to expose the dash bar ( the bar that is behind the dash that runs from the left to the right side of the A frame ).. i will have a custom driveshaft made by The Driveshaft Specialists, 300sx had his made for $350 including shipping.. he said it can hold up to 650hp which is damn good for that amount of money. i will have to rehape the crossmember for fitment for the VG so it will fit right, im hoping that it will sit directly over the axle..

Its been said that you need a new custom hood to make it fit. The 300zx motor mounts need to be customized also and also a custom driveshaft. I couldn't find any info on wiring. It kinda sounds like a money pit waiting to happen.

KA, SR, RB, CA have been done so many times because they work.VG30s are cheap, if it was a worthwhile swap it would be more popular.

3.0 will be different and fast, but awy more expensive and deadly on handling... rbs are way better in the money/performance ratio

thats the stuff i was talking about. but anyways, good luck and i gotta see it when you get it done.

i have already addressed this problem in the above posts.

the only reason why more people do not do this swap is because of its difficulty and peoples lack of patience to get something done, but.. in the future, it will come out better than expected.

300sx over on freshalloy stated that he cant really feel and handling differences between the stock KA and the VG. more than likely because the weight was transferred over the front axle, alot like the KA, i have to admit the weight distribution would be easier in an I6 but.. the VG isnt an I6 so.. oh well

thats the stuff i was talking about. but anyways, good luck and i gotta see it when you get it done.
i was just kidding about all the faces bro.. thanks for the luck and youll be the first to see

ugh.. my bad, the reposts to your replys are in the box above.. i meant to put them on the outside but.. it didnt work to well, as u can tell.

The Only THing I Have To Say About The VG30DET (T) Is THat There Are Alot Of Corrosion Problems At Least That Is What I Was Told When I Was Going To Get The VG30DET (T) And Do All That **** For Myself The Place I Was Talking To Told Me It Would Be Alot Better To Go With The RB Becuase They Have Less Problems Than The VG30DET (T) Not TO Mention YOu Car Has The KA Right 4 Cylinder I Pressume Learning All This As I Go But You Put A Motor Like The VG30DET (T) In A 240 Which Has A 4 Banger In It You Are Gong To Have To Do A Little Work With The Suspension And All The Drive Train.......ECU Wiring Harness And All THat Crap Not To Mention The Front Will Be Alot Heavier And You Will Have Problems With Turning At high Speeds Cause It Will Want To Go Straight....... I Was Looking At Doing It And It Was Going To Cost Me At Least I Think It Was Like 10,000 But That Was For My Maxima Converting It To A 5 Speed,Suspension Front And Rear,ECU, Wiring Harness, Drive Shaft, Rear Axle, Body Work To Tunnel For A Drive Shaft Seeing As It Was Front To Rear Wheel Drive......Then I Thought About Doing The RB30 I Think It Was Going Ahead And Making It An AWD Maxima Because I Already Have The Front Wheel Drive And Then Having To Have Rear Wheel Drive And All But It Was GOing To Take To Much Time I Think They Said At Least 8 Months And That Is Pro's Doing The Work......Not To Mention 10,000 Is Alot Of Money

well the oval part is pretty dumb but.. i like dragging.. its fun, its a rush. i mean im a really big fan of swinging the rear end out every now and then but.. i mean it would be nice to have both a drag and drift car.

eh.. the VG has the most torque out of all the motors from CA to RB26.. many dyno graphs have proven that the VG produces the most torque in the lower rpm range.

look what i just found.. this is for an S13 and will completly help me out with my swap soooo much! you know how i was talking about having issues with the brake master cylinder? well, i found a solution to moving it out of the way.. look at this http://www.uniqueautosports.co...r.jpg

that removes one of my problems.. now i just have to track down that Infiniti oil pan i will need so the steering rack will insert into the steering gear and control valve assembly, if i didnt fix this problem, the output shaft of the steering column would be block off by the stock VG oil pan, which is big.. a little too big but, i think i have a solution to the problem.

id rather do touge downhill anyways, and the ka has plenty of torque at relatively low rpms. in the touge the vg s13 would be a nosediving, understeering pig. jk
