I have a '94 300ZX that I totaled last winter NEVER take a Z out in snowy weather...biggest loss of my life...But the car was totaled and I bought it back for $2500, and bought a '91 240sx. The engine from the 300 laid upside down for about an hour, so what would it take to get it running again? Is it possible to put it in a 240?

i believe it can be done, but you would be custom fabricating everything, it would cost a lot. if you arent looking to do monster power modifications ive heard its not worth it

PS: im not sure if the engine would have any adverse effects from laying upside down, probably should be okay though

As long as the engine was not running while upside down, no harm done. Be sure to check all vaccum and intake lines for fluid before just slapping everything together.

I know it can be done...I've heard of a Z powered 240 in my area...don't quite know the details though.

piston slapping cylinder walls and minimal scoring i'd say.

Not sure about the engine being upside down hurting anything. I do know that the 300Z motor can be put in a 240...hell, I can't remember who it is on here but someone is putting a Q45 motor in a 240..Talk about monster!!

GO FOR IT. Let me start by saying that everyone and their mother on this board is going to tell you that its not worth it and its too heavy blah blah( might weighs 90-150 lbs more, OMG!!! SO FREAKING HEAVY!!! WHAT WILL U EVER DO!!!)… it can be done and as a matter of fact I've heard it bolts right up with the factory Z motor mounts, only real space issue is that it sticks out about an inch, nothing some creative hood work wont solve. As far as power goes that engine starts with “280”hp with plenty of room to grow, considering all the US support that it has. I have nothing against the sr20det but as they say no replacement for displacement. Anyway search around, this is one of those ideas that ppl talk about but never actually do it, but there are plenty of posts on it, and a few from ppl who are working on it. as soon as I'm outta of college and I get a second car going I plan on swapping a vg30dett in my s13.

btw heres some reading you might find very interessting..

when u search, search for vg30dett in an S13

A VG 240SX must be really nice. Light car-- good torque.
