He beat me by 2 and a half -3 car lengths..he had a few things done to his car, but i didnt expect to lose that bad. I just wanted to get some tips before i go to the track. Like how you guys launch and what you shift at and all that good stuff. I plan on upgrading my turbo get an FMIC and the usuall stuff to be up to my standards...please help!

1. why do you guys think street racing is gay? Yeah i like going to the track but i dont feel like paying 35 bucks to go the track everytime i want to race. I dont want to have to wait 30 min just to race my car...Yeah its a lot more safe to go to the track i agree but its a long way and expensive to pay for gas and just to enter.

2. I didnt think he had that much **** done to his car..i was told different by someone who knew the guy....but i didnt expect to lose that bad.

You should launch at 10,000 rpm, I like to shift at 12,000 but when i'm racing i like to shift at around 20,000. Oh yeah make sure to hold your ebrake up to... it helps to spool the turbo up faster

For stock/street tires, and clutch, 3500rpms, slip clutch, keep traction, modulate throttle untill traction is quickly retained, apply gas till WOT.

Everybody has street raced whether they say its gay or not, if you choose to do so, you're not gay, your just not showing common courtesy for other civilian citizens that share the road with you.

I myself take cruises with friends of mine early in the mornings and since tulsa has many 3 and 4 way main roads that are completely desolate, we'll sometimes do some foolin around but nothing major. The majority of my hauling *** is done almost purely at our local road course where i've been going for quite sometime.

If you DO STREET RACE, DONT DO IT ON ROADS OR PLACES WHERE PEOPLE AND CARS MIGHT BE, that is dumb, i dont even condone what i've done at 3 am in the morning out in Bu t f ck egypt, but at least we're only putting ourselfs at risk and no one else and that is just out of courtesy for other people.

Anyone that reads this, dont make the assumption or state that you've never done it becuase you're either A.Lying, or B. Havent had a car very long. Even if it was only once.

you have a basic RB20 swap with no front mount and a stock turbo. you shouldnt have expected to win vs. a modded 5.0. i know RBs are "supposedly" fast but when you have a basic RB swap, its not that fast. there is a guy a town away from mine who thought he was king **** with his stock RB25 (no front mount and a stock turbo). got his *** handed to him by a KA-T with a disco potatoe and bolt-ons. he was moaning and groaning and couldnt figure out why he lost. swaping in a stock RB doesnt automatically make your car fast.

What are your mods? If you say stock sidemount and stock exhaust your going to lose. A stock RB20 is not that great.

ok so thanks for being an ***. Im not stupid i just wanted some tips. I feel like im launching right and shifting right but i just wanted other peoples outputs in a positive way. This forum is to help people and to bring people who have nissans together..not to critisize them and make them feel stupid. I just felt like i couldve lessen the gap on me and the 5.0, yeah i knew he was gonna beat me. I just wanted to see by how much. I am still trying to figure out my cars pottential and find my boundries. Im in bum F**k Fallon, nv right now, the place where we race is in the middle of nowhere. There is never any cars around. The people that race there arent stupid, we arent 16 year old "ricers". The majority of us are either older or are in the military, Im 21 years old and in the military, ive studied and loved cars since before i can remember. I did not know the guy was highly moded. Thanks to someone i know. I just thought it would be a fun and close race. But thank you kansei240sx for helping me out. yellow4g63 i really dont have many mods..just 300zx lsd and right now my exhaust stops after the cat. and i understand the stock rb20 is not that great...but its not the slowest thing ever either. I dont think that my car is the fastest car ever..but i know it has potential and i know what it can do now. and sorry for the long A** post.

hahahaha wait till you get busted for street racing. the 35$ you are bitching about isnt going to cover 1% of your fines, fees and bills if they take the case seriously.

i dont care how deserted the area you race in is, all it takes is ONE ****ing time and you will destroy 2 families lives. yours and the people you kill.

dont be an idiot, go to the track.

and its an rb20! it makes 200whp stock. what do you really expect?! a 5.0 will rape you

You will need some more mods to take that 5.0 stang. Just get a full 3" exhaust from the turbo back and a fmic. Do a fuel pump up the boost to 12-14psi and hope your turbo dosen't crap on itself and you should do good vs that 5.0. If your tach works shift at around 6800-7000 and feather the gas pedal to control your wheel spin. I have taken 5.0's with my RB20 but not all of them run the same. I only had 3" from the turbo 02 housin back and 12psi stock interheater and walbro fuel pump. Strap your car to a dyno and find out what it's doing power wise.

Basically, how you drive your car when you race depends on how scared you are of breaking something. Flat shifting helps A LOT on turbo cars, however it is a little rough on the drivetrain especially if you dont do it right. In my RB25 I flatshift at about 6800rpms and it will overrev to about 7500rpms, but it keeps the turbo spooled and momentum up on the rotating assembly while you shift gears. If you have the traction to do it, it will make a difference in the outcome of the race. You may not win, but it will be closer.

As far as street racing goes, it is super dangerous. You have to be very careful about where you go and who you race bc you are allowing a lot more variables into the race than if you were at the track. Ive done it, had some times after the race where I felt like I had gotten very lucky and havent gone back in almost a year.

As far as racing in general goes, it comes down to the driver more times than not. Even if the other car is legitimately faster, if that person cant drive his/her car and you know how to drive yours well and match shifts to your powerband, you have a shot.

and you dont even tell us of any drivetrain/suspension work you have done. if you are running an open diff, you really need to upgrade before doing much else. if you put a larger turbo and fmic on it and start making 280-320 hp you wont be able to effectively put the power to the ground with an open diff.

edit: what the hell? i thought i was in the 240 forum, not the rb forum. oh well, my advice still applys.

No thank you for being an ***... Do you know why import laws are so strict nowadays? Its because jerks like you, ruin it for the rest of us. I also fail to see how being 21 and being in the military justifies street racing. IMO that just makes you look even more immature...

It all depends on where you live as well, here in OK there are no emissions, and getting a ticket for street racing is almost as cheap as getting a speeding ticket (only cost me $350 and is now off my record, and i had no lawyer either, lol) which is a joke in my mind...

Amad18, your profile says "military" I'm to assume that's your current occupation correct? Can you say Article 15 along with loss of driving privilages. Don't think it won't happen, UCMJ is a real biotch and the CO will probably spank that azz for street racing . Of course I have been a civilian since 1994 so it may be a new warm and fuzzy military.
