Putting a 3" exhaust on my '03. Now I just have to find time to do it.

Ya, I think you'll need a bit more pipe and a few less 90's.

There actually are 6 bends in the stock exhaust. I probably could have gotten away with only buying 4 or maybe 5 90's, but I figure it would be a lot less frustration to have one for every bend. Plus, when I cut one wrong, and I know I will, I'll have extra. I have more than enough straight pipe. Keep in mind that the muffler is 28" long.

It's actually a few inches longer. While I am putting a big exhaust on and I know it's going to be loud, I'm trying to keep it as quiet as possible.

So, you're doing cat back or y-pipe back?

Just catback for now. I'm going to make a full header later with a 3" collector so it will end up being 3" all the way back.

I finally got around to getting this on the car. I didn't take any pics because I was rushing, but it turned out well. For those who said that I needed more straight and less bends, I ended up with over 3' of straight pipe left over, but only 1 90 bend. Initial impressions are that it is actually pretty quiet. My exhaust had rusted out at the flange for the axle back prior to this, and it is a ton quieter than just the stock midpipe was.

Looking back, it is a ridiculous pain in the a** to get everything to line up without clunking in the little tunnel that the exhaust has to go through. I definitely saved a few $, but there is a company that makes a 3" that would probably be worth the difference to most.

I can sympathize. I started to develop a rattle when the exhaust was cold - but when it warmed up, the rattle would go away. I ended up having to reinforce the hanger, right by the tunnel, with a worm clamp. So much better.

I was actually looking at this earlier in the week.

No, I didn't. I still have the same set up at this point (headers, custom b-pipe and stock muffler).

If I could find an exhaust that is comparable to the Greddy SP2 exhaust for the 4th gens, I'd be on it in a minute. The Greddy EVO system for the 5th gens is close, but not the same.
