I finally went to a local tune shop to perform the uprev tune. I have a ‘13 M56x so they needed to have a custom map made. The tune shop downloaded the entire computer to send to uprev. It was all ready to go and have uprev send back a map. But then uprev contacted the shop and told them they no longer do custom maps.

Is there any solution to this? Anyway to get an uprev tune now, or is it a lost cause?

I can't say but reach out to Joe aka seymore4. He did my tune and many others on here. I have the 3.7 but he might be able to speak to 5.6 also.

seymore4, is the man, I was in the process of getting mine done then as usual something always pops up, you ask a question he is right on it and responds back to you emails very quickly.

+1 for Joe.

UpRev as a company sucks. Their product is half decent but if they continue down the path they are on with how they treat their customer base and some of their decisions related to management of their software...they will not be around long. I work in the IT/software sector...seen it many times.

I personally will not use them next time I need to tune an Infiniti (assuming I can't use my existing license).

The other option for tuning besides Uprev you might want to look into is ECUTEK.

Before I traded in my car a couple of weeks back I was planning to reflash my Uprev license back to my cable and my tuner informed me that Uprev is no longer allowing this. The license must now stay on the vehicle it’s on. Apparently this was a new change that was implemented sometime last month.

Ilya, are you aware of an alternative? I want to do it after exhaust...but this is disheartening news.

Jack, see above. I've seen ECUTEK mentioned a lot lately...definitely worth looking into.

I’m going to look into ECUTEK.

And yes, even the shop I was going to use didn’t have great things to say about UPREV.

How do I reach out to Joe, seymore4? I know everyone is always super complimentary toward him. I’d love to hear what he has to say as options, if any.

I’ve reached out to ECUTEK. They are located in the U.K., but after spending some time on their site, they seem pretty experienced and advanced. So hopefully they’ll have some answers. They did NOT have the V8 listed as a car they support, but did have the 3.7V6. So I’m crossing my fingers they have some answers and I’ll pass on any info to the thread.

I was on their site and could not find specifics on our V6. Like real data, etc. Link to it?

I did find quite a few YouTube videos, tho....

ECUTEK can’t help with the 5.6

They got back to me and said they don’t support the V8 at this time. It sounds like they don’t plan to either. So no luck with them.

Since you're not having any luck with your local tuner you should look into RS-Enthalpy, he's a well known tuner in the Tampa, FL area who tuned my M37. This guy netted me an extra 30 whp on my M37 with basically only a Stillen near cat back exhaust. He definitely knows his s***. I know he tunes the 5.6's as well. He does remote tuning but you would need an Uprev cable with a previous license to do it which I have for sale if anyone wants to buy it. I'll post a link to his website below:

This is what uprev replies to me with...

“It is true that we are not giving support for your specific rom number at this time.
We are putting all of our efforts in the Q50/60 platform at this time and until that is done we can not take our developers away to test or release rom files for NON CORE vehicles.
It does not mean we are not tuning M56s any more just the ones that have not been supported yet.
This goes for ALL NON CORE models”

So anyone with an X model is out of luck from them now I’m guessing. They MIGHT be able to do the 5.6 without all wheel, but not sure.

Talk to Joe...he tuned my X...but I think it matters more what your ECU part # is, not model.

I got a hold of him via email and he is great to work with. Haven't done anything yet, it was yesterday. But if you email him at [email address redacted by request of poster], he'll get back with you. I have to do exhaust first.

Joe Seymore has nothing to do with core patches. If Uprev said that they won't support them anymore then you're out of luck, no matter who the tuner is. I went through this when Joe did my '12 M56x. I had to pay the $200 patch fee directly to Uprev before Joe could do anything.

So as of right now there will be no more tuning done by Uprev for our M37x models?
i mean they won't be able to support non core models. this just about takes all M models off but the S

Just to clarify for everyone.

Until further notice Uprev is not unlocking any NEW non core roms. That includes the M45/56/Q70. Before we just had to pay a $200 development fee and they would unlock them, but for now they have stopped.

If your specific ECU part # is already unlocked and in the database, its business as usual. Year/model/trim do not matter, the ECU part # is the deciding factor.

This is temporary but they will not give me a guesstimate of how long.

This is not true, the shop just didn't want to jump through the hoops to get your license back. Also, its much more profitable to sell you another one.

Someone figured out how to hack the software and steal licenses so Uprev had to change the software so that it deletes the license when you flash back to stock. You have to send them before and after screenshots, and a license report and they will give you another license.

I believe all M37, M56, and Q70 models are considered Non-Core vehicles regardless of the specific version (base, sport, x, hybrid). All would be subject to the $200 patch fee but anyone who doesn’t currently have Uprev installed just might be out of luck for now per the comments being mentioned previously.

That’s good information to know. That shop told me that if I called Uprev directly, that Uprev might be willing to make an exception and let me remove my license from the vehicle since that so called new rule had just recently started. I didn’t think it was worth the hassle since I was buying a hybrid & not planning to tune it this time around so I never looked into it. Again, the key word was “exception” so figured that this was something set in stone by Uprev.

Thanks again for the new info and clarification.

You are correct. HOWEVER if your specific ECU version was already supported then you did not have to pay, since it is already unlocked.

If your ECU version is already unlocked we can still tune it. This has nothing to do with having Uprev installed or not. It depends on which version of the ECU you have.

My tune shop said that HP has just launched software that can support our vehicle. I might be saying his wrong, I’m talking to them again tomorrow. But they said it’s brand new and can likely allow the car to be tuned. Do you guys know of this?

HP tuners did announce that they are now supporting Nissan and Infiniti's, but this is all very new as in less than a month ago, I didn't see anything about the M's but if its possible you would probably be the first one tuned with it in the entire world. I would not want to be the guinea pig....
