Upragding to Z32 MAF

So i got a Z32 MAF a while back and me and my buddy were srguing that we didnt have to use a SAFC2 when installing it i said that it was necessary but he insisted that we didnt have to use it so now i turn to the nicohaulics and i ask if we have to have it when installing it? oh its on a S13 Red Top SR btw thanks guys!

U need safc. Setting is 6 in 2 out. If u don't run a safc or some sort of engine management the car won't stay running longer than 1 second.

You don't have to specifically use an SAFC but you have to use SOMETHING. For under $200 you can get your ECU shipped out to emance to get rom tuned, or for $130 he can ship you a daughterboard for you to install yourself but the job can be tricky

This is true. It won't idle longer than 1 second.

Just to confirm, an Enthalpy ROM chip will work and I wouldn't need to get an SAFC?

if u cr planning to get a turbo upgrade soon then just get a rom tune

If u just want the maf just get apexi neo. Since its the easiest one to work with and its about $350. Could find a used one for cheap on ebay

If the point of this thread was that your friend said you don't need to do ANYTHING to run a Z32 maf, tell him he's wrong, the input/output voltages are different and the car will not run.

Are you thinking about installing the maf? because the maf by itself won't make the car feel any different.. it would be more trouble than it's worth to get it running. if your stock one is working properly I would hold off until you get other mods that necessitate a higher flowing maf like the Z32.

That said I suggest go with a rom tune. If you ever get higher flowing injectors and a bigger turbo you'll probably want to get rid of an AFC anyway. tuning with them is dangerous at best.
