upper timing chain guide

Can i remove the upper timing chain guide on my s13 sr and run the car like that,Because my chain is rubbing on it and making some noise.Thanks,

I ran for a couple years without one, no problems. It could be a sign that you need a new timing chain or tensioners. But the piece itself wont save your engine if something else is wrong.

I took mine off and it didnt make any difference whatsoever. Noise is still there.

i against taking it off because it's a nice sign that your chain or tensioner is loose. I'd rather here that slapping to let me know that something needs to be fixed than to wait for the chain to jump a few teeth before I realize what's going on. My .02

The sound really doesn't mean much. My engine made the noise 10 minutes after I started it up, so I took it off. A couple years later I put it back on again and for the last 6 months or so I haven't heard it once.
