upper spring mount cut out

I am trying to install new struts on the front of my 95 240sx. The problem I have is that one manual I have says that the cut outs on the upper spring mounts should point to the inside of the car and another says that they are supposed to face the outside (the chilton manual). Which one is correct? Thanks for the help.

The FSM for my '93 says that the cut out should face the inside of the car.
