ive reasearched and didnt get any info. For the upper oil pan, it only requires liquid gasket right?? is there a certain brand i should be looking for? Also, does anyone know the torque specs for the upper oil pan?? One problem just leads to another then to another....thx oh yeah the fsm was down and i dont feel like waiting till it gets back up. haha i tried to make the fsm my best friend "ILikeMy240sx".

yes.. liquid gasket.

I usually use the black colored gasket. There are many kinds like red, blue and black. I find black to be the best from my experience.

I dont know the exact torque spec but considering the size of those bolts + aluminum casting.. it should be between 10 and 20 ft*lb. Those threads for the uppder oil pan like to strip alot if you over torque so go easy on them. If some are stripped just helicoil them.

well, i finally got the upper oil pan and timing cover off. juss need to clean up liquid gasket. Anybody know torque specs on front cover?

the FSM says that the oil pan bolts should be tightened between 12-14 ft lbs. To be honest, I've just done them by feel and never had any problems. Also when retightening the bolts, go in the order of doing the two middle bolts, then work your way out. (do the two to the right of the middle, then the two to the left, then the two to the left of that, then go back to the right, etc) That will ensure you don't warp anything and the gasket gets a good compression.

As far as the front cover, FSM says 4.7-5.5 ft lbs.
