Hello everyone, working on a cracked upper oil pan, on a 03 coupe base model.
My question is, the oil pressure sending unit, next to it there is an outlet, that contains a small metal ball.
Does anyone knows the purpose/operation of this outlet?
I simply cannot find the answer or technical Information about this.

I'm not sure of the specific ball you are inquiring about but many engines use a checkball for a pressure bypass under the oil filter, the 280ZXT's equipped wiht an automatic used an external oil cooler and remote filter and plugged the port normally occupied by the bypass valve.

That's just a plug from the manufacturing and machining process.
