you dont seperate the 2 manifold peices to get it all off, just undo it from the head and remove the support bracket bolts as well as al the hoses and wiring to it. then it should just come out, if it doesnt seem to want to come off something else is still attached.

okay...how many bolts are there on the bottom manifold? isnt there some that are impossible to get to? well they would seem impossible to get to..(im talking about the bolts on the top of the flange that connects the LIM to the block.)

yeah it moves but the two outside bolts from UIM to block are threaded into the block and it is just a nut that you take off to get the mani off and the two outside bolts from UIM to LIM are threaded into the LIM and are also attached to UIM w/ nuts so the threaded bolts form a 90 deg. angle and won't allow the UIM to come off either one...confusing but i think you may understand what im saying. i wish i had a pic

these are the four bolts i was sayin that attach to the UIM w/ using nuts. the ones that are in a 90 deg. angle that make it seem impossible to remove the UIM by itself.

I am failing to see where the problem is, if you remove the nuts holding it to the head, the whole unit should simply slide off the studs and you can lift it out of the vehicle???

a better question: what is stoping it from sliding the upper and lower intake manifold as an assembly toward the passenger fender?

when you have the motor sitting on the floor you should try again just so you know how to do it. you may have to again.
