hi guys was wondering if anyone has an a gauge sender in the upper hose like i do. I wanted to know what was the highest temp that anyone has seen at the top hose on a SR20DET. The reason i ask is because most of the time im at 180 to 195 but sometimes will spike up 210 during traffic and warm weather. Im fairly new to the SR and just wanted to get an idea what average temps were.

Thank You for your help.

What gauge are you using? I'm about to install one also. I'll let you know what mine reads.

im using a Autometer Sport Comp short sweep electric. Im almost wondering since electric senders run off resistance , im thinking that the exsive heat might be affecting that. just a thought though. anyone else?

thank you .

I'm running the same temps in florida heat. 210 is a lil high IMO so make shure you have a good cooling setup.

I have mine located in the upper water neck. It would run 225 ish during summer (Georgia) and I'd have to cut the heat on. It only does it at freeway speeds (3k RPM plus) so it's either my waterpump or lack of ducting b/t the bottom of the IC and radiator support. I'm thinking ducting/improper airflow since it doesn't overheat at lower RPM's. Read this article to get a better idea of effective cooling on the SR

i run between 185 and 195 temp stays around 190 most the time with a koyo. when i was on stock radiator it would be 195 and would reach 200 normal driving on the highway crusing 80-90 mph. hour long trips i would see 205-210ish towards the mid to end of the trip, probly do to heat soakon the stock radiator with no ducting. with an autometer gauge with the temp probe. hope this helps alittle.

I've never gotten over 195 according to my autometer gauge....stock gauge will read almost H when I'm running at max temp though (195ish) Stock gage sucks bigtime. I have all the ducting, big 3-row radiator, new waterpump and thermo. But I still run the stock clutch fan and no fan shroud since there's no room to fit it in there.

210 does seem a bit too high, at least for my comfort. Good luck!
