I found a great deal on some S-14 seats. I am getting 4 of them for $300 shipped from a salvage yard. (I think I am paying $180 for shipping and $120 for the seats themselves)

Anyhow.. 2 are in pretty nice shape.. they were pulled and stored indoor. The problem with the 2 nice ones is that they are not matching. 1 is left seat, black/grey apholstery and 1 is right seat bluish apholstery...

The other 2 are matching, but sat outdoor for a while and have some mold and are dirty.

1.) Driver's side sat outside..

2.) Passenger side sat outside..

3.) inside seat #1

4.) inside seat #2

Here's my question... Does anyone have any suggestions for me on how to make 2 of them work for my car?

I know there are a couple upholstery shops in town.. I just don't want to spend hundreds for each of them to have new upholstery.

Has anyone every tried to upholster themselves?

Has anyone had good luck with seat covers? I usually hate them because they fit on so loose.. they look like pillow cases.

If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it!

Thanks!!

I'd try carpet cleaner and then soak it with a hose and let it dry, making new covers yourself would be very hard unless you have done it before.

Yeah.. I am going to spend a lot of time cleaning them... Oxyclean, Carpet Cleaner, soak in Fabreeze, etc...

The simplest thing struck me the other day... I should be able to remove the apholstery from one and switch it to the other. I don't think there is a big difference in the actual cloth composition between a driver and passenger seat. So, i will give that a try as well.

Thanks for the reply!

Update:I wound up only getting three seats. The crappy passenger side one was so rusted to the floor that the salvage yard couldn't even remove it.. They said they would have to cut out the floorboards..

Anyhow, I got three seats. The two nice ones are VERY NICE. They are extremely clean!

But, they don't match

I am going to hit a couple apholstry places and see what they would charge to simply redo the center section of each. The outside fabric matches. If I could find something sharp for the center section of each seat, I would be in great shape!!

Old seats...

New Seats!!!
