Had the V for about a month now and I have noticed that the drivers seat is taking some damage already. The seam that runs down the center on the lower portion of the seat is stretching on the left side. I presume this is from when i get out I sort of swivel sideways and step out. Im not a large guy, 6'1" (185cm for our Northern neighbors paying attention) 210 pounds (95kgs) and Ive always gotten out of the car the same way. It has never affected other vehicles Ive owned like this. I'm reduced to getting out by lifting my butt and awkwardly kind of throwing myself out the door in an attempt to needlessly further the damage to my interior.

In an attempt to stop this behavior, my gf has taken a video of me and showed me getting out of the car in such a fashion.

I look retarded.

I dont want to get seat covers, I like the look and feel of the factory interior. But I dont want to look like I did on that video EVER again.

Is this normal seat wear? Can I tear my seat up then get it replaced right b4 my warranty goes out? Should I just give up and get some covers?

Enquiring minds want to know! (that one is for the over 35 crowd)

Hi!!!

First of all I think you should tell your dealership about this. I noticed you own a Versa "S". The seasts in that version look and feel incredibly cheaply made compared to the seats in our SL models.

I own an SL. I am an over 6 footer too, 215 lbs. My seat looks like new. No problem at all. So I think your weight has nothing to do with that.

Do not accept putting seat covers in your new car. Come on. Something might be breaking your seat from the interior. These things happen and covered under warranty.

What he said! I'm 6 ft and about 200 lbs with quite a few miles on my SL, and the seat looks like new. I know the S has a different material, but I can't imagine it would ever wear that fast.

Man, you guys are all tall gorillas! I'm only around 5'9 160lbs or so, just your average humble dude. Heh..

Anyway, I would take it into the dealer and have it get checked out, it's under warranty. Take advantage of your warranty folks! Seat covers would avoid, those are for the weak.

Recommend you vacuum & steam clean your interior every 6 months and protect the upholstery with scotch guard because the seats tend to wear out quickly from everyday wear and tear. Dirt, dust and sand can get trapped in the fabric and cause wear. If that doesn't help then I don't know, glad I could be of assistance.

Oh sorry, i forgot that this is mainly a US forum. But in Australia we haveST Is the Standard in Hatch And SedanST-L is the more upgrade model, ABS, 6 Speaker, Automatic OptionThen we have the TI Which is exclusive to the sedan model Top of the line has, EBD, Rear Disc brakes aswell as front 6 Airbags but only has the Automatic. No 6 speed manual :'(the there is the Q that is exclusive to the Hatch. All features of the Sedan Ti except you can have a 6 speed manual . All tiida/versa in Australia are petrol model and we have no CVT's in any model either. hoping that comes next year.

We have an SL and their is some "pilling" on the upholstery on the driver's seat panel closest to the center concole.

I intend to take it to the dealer at some point. I'll just wait till it gets worse as the car is only one year old with 20k miles.

Based on the experiences of several of our Z club members having a similar issue with their 350Zs, I expect Nissan will replace the upholstery under warranty as they did for them.

Im 6'3", 240lbs and people say that I resemble a bear, but my seats (And I do swivel to the left to get out) are in immaculate shape. I would say the seats you have were the ugly duckling out of the bunch, not everything is made to specs all of the time. Go to Nissan dealer and demand warranty work, this is what warranties are for, to bad we have to fight for them!! Good luck!
