Hi everyone, I am not sure if this is normal or not, but my 99.5 QX4 has a kinda odd uphill acceleration routine. Engine will speed up to 2100 rpm, car moves as fast as it should for 2100 rpm and will stay there as I press more on the pedal, eventually when I get close to full throttle it begins to rev to the high 3000s/low 4000s and then I hit the top of the him and it begins accelerating normally. Only thing that stumps me is that it's stuck at 2100 rpm not 2800 rpm where the max torque is.

Is that with the 3.3 or 3.5?

Not sure if I completely understand the driving conditions as you attempt to describe them but one question that comes to mind is which gear are you in when accelerating uphill? If I had to hazard a guess it sounds like your transmission isn't downshifting at the proper point.

I know with my 3.3 engine it always kicked down going up hills. Not sure about the 3.5.

Tried the same hill the other day with overdrive off and similar slow downshift, but much less significant/ more normal. No idea which gear it is in since its an A/T, should I try that hill or similar with it manually in a lower gear and see if the problem gets better maybe?

I never worried about it.

Good news, changed TPS sensor and the problem went away and it downshifts great now and doesn't hesitate much uphill, in case anyone else has a similar problem.
