I have a 2011 m37x and am contemplating upgrading to the akebono sport brakes. I see that a set of used calipers goes for about $700 and a set of new rotors and pads go for about $360. Is there anything else that i need to do this upgrade? Do the calipers swap easy (plug and play), or do other modifications need to be done? Is there a significant difference in braking performance with the akebono brakes over the standard m37 brakes? Im not a mechanic but have done brake jobs on many vehicles myself. Is this something a shadetree mechanic like myself can do easily or would it be better left to a professional? Thanks in advance for any info.

Also, will the oem 18" wheels fit over those brakes?

You can look at infinitipartsonline.com to check part numbers. From what I can tell (I have not researched it 100%) but it looks like the sport and base master cylinder's have different part numbers. Check that to make sure. You can go through the whole brake system on that site to see what parts are different and which part numbers are the same.

Check the thread I made earlier this week about brake upgrade. It sounds like 18 inch wheels will fit w/ a spacer.

no they wont. honestly if you are not tracking the car, you would be fine with an upgrade to a more aggressive pad and maybe a slotted rotor.

you can you re-use your brake lines but you'll need new banjo bolts for sure.

calipers will bolt right up to our hubs without any issues but you will need to trim or remove the brake dust shield for the larger rotors to fit in place.
