Heyy I was wondering if I could upgrade from my 17" stock rims to the 19" stock rims that Infiniti includes in the sports package. Is there any way for me to just buy those rims and tires and not the whole package?? You think I should just go to my dealership and ask? And if anyone knows, how much do you think it'll cost all together?

Thanks,blckg35

You would probably be better off buying an aftermarket package. I have the 18's for the '03 Sport Package and have been looking to go with wider 18" wheels.

I've been seeing 18" Staggered Tire/Wheel packages going for $1700 and havn't shopped around much.

Thats for 18x8.5 Fronts with 245/40-18s and 18x9.5 Rears with 275/40-18s

19's will cost a bit more. I personally didn't want to goto that low profile of a tire. Running 35 series tires and taking corners hard will tear up your rims. I like to be able to push it threw a corner and not worry too much about rolling the tire under the wheel.

I just ordered a new sport package rear wheel for my 06 g coupe today because a bonehead at work hit my car with a semi. The dealership wanted $968 for one, but I found it online for $636.89 + $25 for shipping.

http://www.trademotion.com/par...gid=2 It's wheel #5 on there and it's listed at $595. But when I called to order it, they charged me the price I mentioned above.

Ummm, no.

Finding an aftermarket wheel and tire that is as strong, light and well-designed as the forged Ray's OEM 19's is gonna put you in the $4K per set range.

And that last statement is very false. The car was designed with that wheel and tire package, and it's damn near bulletproof.

A taller sidewall is MORE likely to "roll under".

Aggressive driving on a properly-matched wheel/tire package will NOT "tear up your rims".

OEM 19's with tires can be found in the $900-$1500 range.

THat's a LOT of wheel and tire for the money.

They're super-light, super-strong, and hold a balance very well.

I wasn't aware the stock 19s are strong, light and well designed. Generally stock wheels are stong, but heavy. Even still the most expensive set of wheels I've seen for the G were Volks for 2700. For me I would I'd rather buy aftermarket wheels for the look and the option to go up to a wider tire.

I've always been told when you get under 40 series tires, you have to be careful on hard corners, pot holes, etc.

One of my stock 18's has a bit of rim rash at the top edge of the wheel from the previous owner. Not sure how it happened, but I assumed it was due to the lower profile tires. Altho 45 series isn't real real low.

No problem Mike, that's what we're here for, to share info!

The G35 19's are a forged wheel, made by Ray's. Very well-respected manufacturer, on a par with BBS and HRE.

They're very light and very strong.

Volks at $2700 is just the tip of the iceberg - That's actually a good price for a staggered wheel fitment on a G... Look at a set of HRE's or some other high-end wheels, you can easily spend $5-6K.

Anything LESS than the VOlks places you in "cheap wheel" territory, which I don't recommend. Heavier, cast aluminum wheels which don't balance well and don't have the strength of a good forged wheel...

You're right that a lower profile tire offers less wheel protection from potholes and road hazards. However, a lower profile tire with a good sidewall and properly inflated is less likely to "roll under" during harsh cornering.

The rim rash you have is more than likely a curb check. That's one reason I always run tires that are a *little* wider than recommended, I like the extra rim protection.

Well said Hitman! I'd agree, your rash is from a curb...very easy to do!
