I'm looking for a 2002 - 2004 M45. I want Nav and a wood steering wheel.Can I retro fit them?

It appears to have all the buttons needed for the Nav. Can I buy the OEM unit and install it?

And can a Q45 steering wheel of those years be installed in the M?

Thank You

Just an FYI ... there is no 2002 M45. It came out as a 2003 originally and there was only one additional model year sold (2004), before the new M was released as a 2006 model.

No, unfortunately. The OEM NAV unit has a bigger screen ... would not be cost-effective to rip out the entire dash and replace the screen, the full electronics, etc.

You would be better off getting an M that has it in already, or get one of the Garmin or Magellan after-market, portable units (also sold at Radio Shack of all places!). Magellan introduced a new model recently that is quite impressive. If you want more info, drop me a line, and I will look up the model number.

I have to admit, I have absolutely no idea! Hope someone else chimes in on this question.

Oh...so the outside is the same, but electronics behind it are different. I kind of like the OEM, so maybe I'll just look for one installed.

Thanks for your reply.

I definitely could have helped with that problem, Im actually doing a set of turbos now on an A6. If he needs any other work let me know as I would be happy to get some extra work this time of year
