Upgrading OEM Stock Bose Stereo Speakers etc

I have an 02 Q45 with a stock stereo.....I have always put custom sound systems in my previous cars but am afraid to touch the Q!!! Where would I even begin to upgrade my factory sound system? Does anyone have a custom system in their 02+ Q45?

I want to maintain the use of the factory LCD and Radio Controls, just mainly looking to upgrade the speakers, maybe add another sub and some amps. I am assuming that each bose has its own little amp with it...

Does the factory 'head unit' have any pre-outs? How can I hook up an amp to a factory head unit if it doesnt?

Sorry for all the Qs on the Q. Please help when someone has time.

A very popular upgrade we've done is just to add an amp and a sub. Either use an LOC (line output converter) or get an amp that has high level inputs and wire it to the rear speaker wires. Simple upgrade and IMO every aspect of the systems sounds better with more powerful bass. It's good for the rest of the speakers because you can turn down the bass on the deck and the speakers don't have to play those frequencies as loud.

The Japanese President of McIntosh Laboratories in the early 1990's had a custom set up in his Q45. Would love to know where that car is now.
