The stock speakers in my versa aren't the best quality. Does anyone have any recommendations on what kind to buy that sound superb? I'd also like a subwoofer eventually to sit in the trunk. But I'm not very car saavy.

For those of you who have upgraded your speakers, what did you buy exactly?

I put Memphis speakers in mine. They are great speakers and are one of the top of the line brands with out the huge price. In my opinion they sound better than infinity. But finding a local Memphis dealer is hard lol cause you cant buy them online unless its from craigslist or ebay but even then they wont warranty if bought from one of those sites. And if you do find a site that sells them, then they are selling them illegally. But infinity is also good quality stuff, just gatta pay a little more. And Alpine has some good some from what I hear.

I bought four Kenwoods for the doors on my V. They are the best ones you can buy for that size. You can look them up from my sig. However, there is less bass compared to the stocks. Recommend you get a sub and amp for them.

I dunno about best because thats a very broad thing to say with as many speaker companies out there that make that size speaker. Thats why when I said memphis sounds better than infinity (everyone knows infinity is good stuff) i said that it was my opinion. Just letting you know so some people dont take it the wrong way.

I've always been partial to Infinity. Any time I've upgraded my speakers (other than subs...I go JL for subs) I've always gone with Infinity. That's my $0.02. I got my sister a set of Pioneers to replace her rotted out speakers and they sound pretty good.

LOL, yup. Jef-fa-fa Dunhaaaaaaam is the man. I used to watch him back in the days when he used to just have Peanut and Walter. Now he is coming back strong and has a bunch of new fans. I got to meet him last Sunday in Pensacola. My sister works for the Pensacola Civic Center and got me in.

Anyhoo, I might look into Memphis speakers if I every upgrade my system. I'm kinda out of those days now. I used to have all my cars hooked up with a bad *** system.

Thanks everyone! I looked up Memphis dealers. I have 2 right next to me. So it's pretty convenient.

Get the new Pioneer TS-D1720C's for the fronts.

As for the rears, I recommend you leave them stock or disconnect them altogether since you'll want to keep the imaging and sound staging towards the front of the vehicle for best results. Remember - more is almost always never better when dealing with a stereo signal..... front left channel, front right channel, and a subwoofer is all that is needed.

For a sub, look into a slim style so you can mount it in a small sealed enclosure along the side wall of the hatch, similar to the factory sub setup. There are plenty to choose from: JL, Clarion, Pioneer, Kenwood, even Tang Band or the new Stereo Integrity BM.

TB 6x9 sub:http://www.parts-express.com/p...4-864

TB 10" (take a close look at this one compared to the Elemental Designs SQ10 ):http://www.parts-express.com/p...4-862

SI 12 BM (this one will need around 500W RMS for full potential):http://stereointegrity.com/bm.php

^^ that has probably one of theeee most informative responses i have read in a speaker setup question.

+1 for not just saying "GO FOR JL's" or "GET A 3000WATT AMP!"

I think sound staging for the versa is hard as it is compact. I used to drive an 89 integra and a 91 integra - i was used to having my rear speakers far to the rear - but with the versa it maybe a bit tricky to get the GREAT sound that I look for.

when i say Great i mean Clarity.

IMO: Clarity>Loud

I listen to every genre but rap. On a blue moon I will listen a song or two of rap. But it mainly consists of rock, instrumental, etc.

I too really would like clarity. The versa stock speakers are...terrible. I hope by getting a new set installed I will get much better clarity compaired to the old ones. I also do enjoy loud though. hahah. I like the feel of the bass shaking through my body and the speakers roaring. I hope a new subwoofer could accomplish such a thing.

Won't be hard at all if dealing with only front speakers and a sub. Hardest part will be tuning the LP and HP amp filters so the sub and front speakers blend well for transparency. That is, if the stock speaker locations are utilized.

The beauty of the Pioneer speakers and TB 10" sub is that one doesn't need gobs of power. A 4x60W to 4x100W RMS amp would do just fine, with 2 of the channels bridged for the sub and gains adjusted accordingly.

And I absolutely agree with you.... Clarity over Loud any day. Why just hear the music when you can truly listen to it?
