if you were reading any of my prevous posts i found out that my ring lands are cracked somehow. now i am going to be building up a seperate block. i dont want to dump a ton of money into this motor i just want a good reliable strong motor that can handle about 10-15 psi of boost. can i just add new supertech pistons and do a fresh rebuild on the motor. would that be a good idea. i am aiming for about 300 hp.

Id say Pistons, Oem seals and bearings if needed, Cometic head gasket and maybe ARP head and main studs and you go a reliable motor right there. Im sure im missing a few little things...

oh yeah i here its really good to upgrade your connecting rod studs too.

i dont think there is a cometic HG for the kae. and oem studs should be good for only 300 hp. anyone else.

I am running 430 horse/410 torque to the wheels with the OEM studs and no problems.

I'm not entirely sure about the cometic for the KAE but I'd guess that they do make one... They make them per order anyways so you might as well give them a call and see if they carry it for you.

You would probably get better responses if you asked better questions. To begin with, you seem to be asking something that has already been covered here thousands of times (what are good choices for internal parts on a KAE). Also, you dont seem to have done very much research on your own. Perhaps if you did some, and then asked about differences/benefits between two or three products that you have in mind people might be a little more eager to reply.

I agree with oem studs. I'm using them and was running roughly low 300's in hp. Duy also used them for 500+. They'll run around $40 new.

i got a price quote for some machine work today. i have to strip the block down to just the head and block itself then send it to portland to have the machine work done. for the hot tank, magnaflux the block and rods, hone to .5mm over for supertech 8.5:1 pistons and to resurface the head will be 300.00. i searched around locally but have heard nothing good about every place around here so thats why i am sending it off. is that a reasonable price for this kind of work. and when i rebuild the motor should i get an entire OEM rebuild kit?
