Upgrading exhaust system on 05 Pathfinder....

For about a month and a half now, I have driving my Pathfinder with the weirdest rattling noise coming from the exhaust piping. At first, I checked the HUGE muffler and noticed that there is a small pin hole and the lower section of the muffler (underneath the tailpipe). After searching for about 30 minutes, I FINALLY figured out what the problem was: a broken metal strap that holds down the tailpipe heat shield and a bent heatshield. I could not believe how many heat shields that were tacked onto the stock piping. With this in mind, I plan on ditching the stock exhaust system. I would rather have a custom setup than an aftermarket kit. (Yes, I'm cheap..hahaha). Anyways, does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

its only 2 years old...ya looked into what kind of rust-through warranty it has on it? theres gotta be some kind of warranty you can take to the dealer and demand that they fix or replace it...just a thought.

I had a similar problem when my Pathy was about 2 and a half years old.I took it back to the dealer and they replaced my exhaust pipes at no charge.It's been fine ever since.Try the dealer first. You have nothing to lose.

The underside is clean...with no signs of rust. The original owner purchased the Pathfinder at a local Nissan dealership. I was just curious on what you guys have on your own rides. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

mine has a 100% stock system, it looks factory. had a small leak when i bought the car but i pointed it out when i test drove it and they fixed it n/c.
