i was looking at brake upgrades but not the 300z brakes. I noticed you can order the brakes in three different types....slotted, drilled, or slotted and drilled. so i was wondering which would be the better to get , b/c i heard some warp easier than others.

EDIT:: Will be drifting

Stock is best.All others will crack or warp.

You are not going fast enough to need any fancy rotors. Think about it when you get above 500 HP.

just invest in some good quality brake pads and that'll do the job, something like endless , or project mu. you can keep your stockers and have much better stopping.

a common misconception is that slotted/drilled rotors help you stop quicker. the only thing they do is help dissapate heat better, supposedly cutting back on brake fade. however, for the price i think they are really a bad investment. get some good brake pads and youll be fine. also, some stainless steel brake lines will help firm up the feel of youre brake pedal.

stick with the blanks first. whatever it comes with. try it out if u see it warp then you can upgrade to slotted. drilled just adds a ton of holes to the rotor (lesser braking surface). slotted acts like a heatsink kind of style with fins. stay away from unbalanced junk found on ebay.

pad compound is what causes faster braking times.

not just pad compound but rotor compound as well. coefficient of friction is what makes braking better

Upgrading your braking system won't help you stop quicker 99% of the time... I'm assuming it's working properly. If you can lock the wheels up with the setup you have now then upgrades (other than perfecting the brake bias front to rear) won't stop you any quicker. They'll just allow you to stop as fast as you can with more frequency.

Some good brake pads do gas. Paggid Blues do from what I've read. So slotted or cross drilled rotors will be benificial with them... and almost neccasary if you are braking hard and often. Assuming they do gas. I haven't found any real proof one way or the other just some companies saying they do who might just want to sell more rotors. They don't claim this on any of their other pads though (even ones in the same price range and class) so I'm tempted to believe them.

X to Zero times are a function of the friction between your tires and the road.Pad compound effects what temperatures your brakes will work the best at as well as pad and rotor life.

You might be able to shave a few hundreths of a second off by increasing how fast your brakes reach full clamping force.

I think the 'critical upgrade' should be in japanese, in a pink font with some sparkles and maybe a hamster dancing around so it would be 'jdm tyte'. I think it would make a good sig for Smith. That's it, now i have to make it.

^True.

Sorry for going off topic but this idea I will implement soon. I was thinking something similar should be in my sig...

Back to topic, you really REALLY cannot over-value the effectiveness of high grip tires.

Imagine, putting all your power to the ground, or stomping on the brakes that would normally result in loss of traction. With a sticky tire all of your vehicle responses are extremely hightened.Your car will be transformed.hence, critical upgrade. If you want to shorten stopping distances, lower your 60' times, and grab 1G on a skidpad, get tires.
