So not only am I new to Z32 ownership but I'm new to 'owning a car for anything other than daily driving' ownership. My goal with the Z is to keep it as stock as possible. But with that in mind does anyone have any suggestions on some changes/upgrades that I can make to the car while keeping it mostly stock. An example would be the brass shifter bushings, not stock but I don't think anyone looking or an all original car would abject to them being there as they greatly improve the driving experience.

Thanks,
Matt

Intake, take your pick, drop in air filter or pop charger, either way on the z32 it's concealed under the nose cover.

ECU, completely hidden.

Exhaust, while this one is visible from the back most aftermarket systems look better than stock and these cars are still 20 years from being collectable so why not.

Short throw shifter, keep the stock knob and only those who know what they are looking at will notice it's low.

Lowering springs, off the shelf lowering springs (not ball dragging coil overs) take about an inch out fo that wheel gap and unless someone knows what they are looking at they won't notice.

Front sway bar, Completely unseen but can help keep the car flatter i the turns.

Wheels, it's almost expected to have aftermarket wheels, many aftermarkets look like they could be OE wheels even if they don't look like Z32 wheels, stay with 17's and they won't look out of place, 18's and bigger just make the brakes look tiny and that's a give away.

I mean... Internals? You'll never see them. Unless you go with a really loping cam (which you would hear). You could also do injectors, as most 300zx upgrades are stock redrills anyways, so they will look identical from the outside. Fuel pump is another hidden one (but kind of pointless without an aftermarket FPR, which you would see with the hood open, or at least notice the stock one was missing)

Cars like these right at the cusp of "classic car" status are in an odd spot if you are keeping an eye on the resale market. Yes, an all original [really] classic car will most time fetch more $ than a modified one....... But these aren't really "classic" yet and a very well cared for car with bolt on modifications will probably garner as much, or more interest than a bone stock one.

Coupled with, reading between the lines of your post, you are experiencing your first car that you want to play with/modify/personalize. Go wild, it's your car, if you think [X} Wheels look good, put the OE ones in the corner for the future and improve it. That pretty much goes for any part you can unbolt and bolt another on.

Keep it clean and keep it tasteful and don't bastardize the car!!! Our values are going up on clean Z32s so one day we'll see the values the car deserve
