I just bought a 2009 G37 Journey Sedan. I want to upgrade the power but know next to nothing about cars. Any tips on where to start?

stillen intake and exhaust. Thats the simplest and most trouble free start.

there is the question right there? You don't want to spend an arm & leg, then let me know.

I only wanted to spend about $3,000 to start out with. What is the difference between short and long air intakes?

Step 1: Learn something about cars

Step 2: Research options and ask informed qustions

Step 3: Choose mods, install, and enjoy. :)

When it comes to performance mods, just beware of the overall costs, warranty, and bang for the buck. Do you do any autox or solo 1 type of racing? Sometimes a driving course and spending money on a soft compound tire is more beneficial than anything else. When you say you know next to nothing about cars... an autox run may be a real eye opener. To me every car owner should atleast run one autox to understand their car a little better in a safe and controlled environment. If you have a friend that happens to race, then ask him/her to codrive with you and record the runs. Then you may say... wow my car sucks at XXXX and you will be able to address it from a more informed perspective. Just my 2 cents :)

Here's what I plan on doing to my G37 sedan:

Air Intake
Exhaust (probably just axle-back)
Front lip spoiler
Rear lip spoiler
Rear fascia
Major stereo upgrade

Then in the future, maybe rims/tires

That list, not including the rims/tires is around $4k. :(

Hey now, none of those mods will affect driveability. They're just to make the car unique to you. Unless you install a pink hood scoop. now thats just badasssss

It can be Hot pink, doesn't necessarily have to be "man" pink.

Why not create a new thread and ask for specifics? I doubt many people will simply send you an email.
