well, i finally did it... wires were spliced, holes made and wiring redone, i finally installed the 9003 hid 6000k kit (bottom headlight)...

both hid's are 6000k... top is xentec, and bottom is bosch... hopefully the colors will match after the bosch "burn in"... not really noticable though..

ok.. for those interested, hopefully at this point, everyone knows how to remove their headlights.. sorry i didn't take pictures while i was doing the install..

this is the kit i bought.. it is not bi-xenon, therefore your hi-beam is still halogen.. i have no problem with this as both hids when on are bright enough..

there is a round cover that seals your headlights in the rear, you need to make a round 1" hole... this is important as this is where the wirings for you hid will pass thru.. dont worry, the hid wirings comes with a rubber seal that will fit on the hole you made... anyway, this needs to go...

one thing to remember here is yellow is low beam, red is high, and black is ground.. and this is your igniter / ballast..

the thick rubber on the right contains the wires that connect to your hid, they are colored blue and red and have their own connectors... the one on the left are the wires that connect to your factory headlight wires... there is a connecter that go to the ballast and on the other end is where you splice and cut then connect your black and yellow wires... note.. your high beam which is regular halogen does not need to be connected to the ballast.. they have yellow wires and one connects to the red wire and the other to the common black wire of your factor connection ... (are you cross-eyed yet?)

easy enough? here is where i ended up securing the ballast on the passenger side

any other questions i'll be happy to answer... i'm in the escondido area ( socal ) and the hid kit i bought is in san marcos... ebay seller but allows local pick-up..

you should see it at night... very intimidating, especially when other drivers see it on their rear view mirrors... i also like that the freeway is illuminated white as against yellow which halogen produces... makes your car stand out especially when your passing other cars and you can clearly see the difference in shade color.. and yes it is street legal..

here's the link...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ewite

i didn't go thru ebay since the seller is so close to me, i paid cash for pick-up... already bought two hids (9003 and d2r) 6000k for my g35 and two (9006) for my 4runner from them... cost is $95 with shipping.. but to be honest, it's better to do a local pick-up because you want to check that the ballast is working fine... out of the three hid kit i bought from them, two of the six ballast was defective but they promptly replaced them... send them an e-mail and tell them "JohnJohn" sent you.. no discounts but at least they'll treat you well.. maybe for "gas money" i can go there and test the hid ( ballast and bulb ) before they send it to you (hey, times like these, every penny counts)... i test mine on my 4runner where all the wirings are easily accessible... and no they don't test themselves because they have no way of doing so...

so wait, is this converting from halogen to HID for your low beams?

Or upgrading the high beam to a HID?

this is for the 9003/h4 HID kit... this is not bi-xenon.. which means your high beam is still halogen but your low beam is now HID.. i never use my high beam anyway so i have no problem with these.. plus with all 4 HIDS on your headlights, you wont need your high beams.. they produce serious light output...

both low beam hid...

low beam hid and high beam halogen...

also, most hid are "plug n' play".. no need to cut wires and modify... my 4runner which uses a 9006 HID, took me 3 min to install the kit... no mods.. lots of room to manuever the wires... different story for the g35.. because of the headlight housing, you need to modify it... lets not forget how you need to drop your bumper in order to get to the headlights screws... not to many g35 has this mod because its a PITA to do... who needs projector headlights when you have all 4 HIDS...

Are you adding 2 HIDs here? Or is this because you didnt have HID to start with?

I'm still not understanding what you went from to what you have.

I'm assuming you had halogen low beam and halogen high beam before?

you are adding hid xenon to your bottom headlights.. the top one is factory hid and has it's own ballast and uses d2r bulb... the bottom one uses regular halogen bulb for both low and high beam.. the bottom one is what i upgraded.. the kit kas 2 bulbs.. one xenon ( for low beam ) and one h4 ( for high beam)...had i opted for the bi-xenon, the kit would have 2 xenon bulbs (for high and low beam)... check out this link, the bulb you are using is H4...
