Well,I got all my stuff installed and it's running. Around 1:30 I decided to install the fuel rail and 50lb injectors along with the JWT ECU. Hardest part was the installation of the wastegate spring.

All I have to say is, wow. 1 bar of boost is insane. So much power and pull all throughout the rev range. The JWT ecu is such a smoother feel to it as compared to the SAFC II tune I was running on. I only got to go rip on it for a while before I discovered that one of my o-rings on the injectors was leaking so I have to fix that tomorrow but other than that, it fired up immediately and works/idles fine. I have no idea what power I am putting down but I plan on going to the dyno for that soon. Best of all, stock head, cams, and bottom end on pump gas. Timing is at 20 base, once I get the injector fixed I am raising it up to 22 due to the JWT ecu's weak timing maps.

I wouldn't touch the timing at 1 bar. Depends on what kind of gas you run though. At 94 octane you may be OK. Otherwise leave it as is. Some guys advance the timing but only at lower boost pressures (read: lower intake temps).

Agreed...with a stock block, 20* base timing is good for ~15psi.

I have mined bumped forward to 22* b/c I'm capped at 12psi (by choice). If I change it to 14psi, I'll knock the timing back to 20*.

Thanks for the input guys.

Getting the injector o-ring replaced today as soon as I am done with classes (college sucks). If you and Orion would quit upgrading your stuff I wouldn't have to try to catch up so quickly.

And I am kinda hoping to run high 11's low 12's with slicks and a lot of luck next season.

with a 1.7 60' 11's are defintily possible.

try to see if you can get an mdm techtom or apexi multichecker. this way you can see how much timing the jwt is pulling out at wot. so you can actually base your adjustsments off something

keep in mind klattr1's jwt ecu for his built motor is running 14 degrees at wot while orion's on the stock block is 17 degrees

my apexi mulitchecker will be here next week but ill be garaging my car then. if you want to borrow it let me know

Well things aren't so bueno....

Replaced the injector o-ring and hooked everything back up. Started it and let it idle for a while, everything seemed fine, no leaks. I took it out and ripped through 3rd and 4th in it, seemed fine, pulled really hard, turned around did it again and headed back to the shop. Upon arrival at the shop the car was idling goofy and I popped the hood only to discover my entire engine bay was one large oily mess.

Seems to have sprayed out the filter off my valve cover. Cleaned it up and did a compression check: 175, 100, 100, 150. D'oh. Dunno what happened but looks like I will be changing out the bottom end soon....

aww thats really ****ty. cant wait to see klattr1 get on this. his first jwt program was no good and blew his fully built motor. thats why you get on a wideband with any kind of tunning.

sorry to hear buddy. the engine will hold together for a while though as long as you dont go wot too much

what program did you get? did you get it for the stock comp? i just ordered a 9:1 program. how long did it take for them to get it back to you? from the first day you shipped it to when it arrived at your door?

edit: just read the rest of the post. hmmm sounds like your blew a head gasket.

Now me and the mad scientist have to rip apart the block and replace the piston rings you just fried...

anyways. that SUCKS. I would be sad if I just dropped a grip on a JWT ECU, injectors, blah blah, then my motor popped 2 days later. Best of luck to ya.

Took me a month from the time I sent my spare ECU out to the time I received my JWT ecu back in the mail. I didn't spend a grip on parts either, the entire upgrade including the fuel rail cost me 600 bucks. ECU, injectors, fuel rail, wastegate spring.

I dunno if it's the headgasket but we can always hope I guess.... But a blown headgasket wouldn't cause the oil blowby that is coming through the PCV filter.

structure why did you decided not to use your JWT and just stuck by a stock ecu?

s14tat- car wasnt running right at all and my plugs were white at 9psi. so i sold it then bought a wideband and safc to tune smaller injectors. i should have jsut bought the wideband and safc to tune the jwt

sorry to jack the thread jon. i was thinking the same thing about the oil. especailly since the low numbers are in the middle two cylinders headgasket shoudlnt have anything to do with it then

now this is making me worry. i thougth JWT tunes their ECU's extremely conservative. so how come its running so lean on your program?

no idea. sometimes you just get a bad tune i guess. but also sometimes its from user error. like not setting the timing correctly, insufficent fuel pressure.

Ya I dunno what went wrong. I might be sending the ECU back into JWT just to make sure that the tune is fine. Car was running fine on my SAFC/370cc tune like 3 hours before I upgraded the set-up so I don't think it's the fuel pressure. The timing was set at 20 but I will be double checking it to make sure no mistakes were made....

Sounds like you popped the ringlands, I have 550's, SAFC2, and the MSD6 BTM, AF's around 11.5, and I popped a piston last week running 12psi. I'm beginning to thinks its my easy driving. I went through 2 motors running the 370's at 8 psi, second time was because I missed 4th and hit 2nd at 6g's, never thought I'd see a KA tach go that far. It's fun to replace pistons, I have finally found a use for those KA's people don't want after their swap.
