I decided to change out my stock 4300k D2S HID bulbs out - as they seemed a bit too yellowish in color for my liking, with 6000k bulbs. I'm very pleased with the new found crispness and light output at night. And that weird greenish color band at the light cutoff is now a pleasing white/blue.
If you're thinking of changing out your D2S bulbs, be careful what you try to install. At first, I purchased 6000k D2S bulbs from MotoringMax. Their fitment guide listed the QX50 as one of the vehicles that their bulbs were compatible with. I installed them...and nothing. No light whatsoever. I returned them....
So went back to the drawing board, did a little research on the internet, and decided to get the Philips-brand D2S bulb the car came stock with, and looked for the 6000k Flash White D2S HID bulbs. I purchased them off of eBay, installed them, and they worked out perfectly. The Philips part number, for your reference is: 85122WXX2.
I understand that Osram CBI Xenarc D2S bulbs will work as well. But I could only find them in 5500k.
