just got my jwt ecu in the mail today. my 72# and ecu will be going probably after this weekend. my questions are:

how much HP can the walbro handle?

for those of you running dual walbros, how do you hook them up to each other?

what other kind of pump can be used for over 500rwhp? supra? aftermarket inline or in-tanks?

a walbro flows 255lph at 40psi right? thats about 64gph which is approx 382lb/hr. according to rc engineering's formulas thats enough to support about 650hp with a .60bsfc.

btw, anyone know the flow rating of a stock 240sx pump?

then why are all the guy in the 500+hp club even the PK R&D car running at least two pumps?

what about running an aeromotive A1000 inline with the walbro? will the walbro get enough fuel to the aeromotive?

My buddy ran the very same Walbro in his 722whp R33 GTR in Okinawa. Its a good pump. I would upgrade to a Berry Grant inline if I were to upgrade over the Walbro 255.

No need to wire in two pumps, here's my theory.

A fuel pump goes bad, when it does it 99% of the time just burns up and dies. I've had it happen to me 2 times. The car dies, you troubleshoot, replace pump, motor lives to start another day.

If you have 2 pumps and need 2 pumps, what happens if one dies? Loss of fuel pressure and a very lean condition occurs causing your motor to detonate and destroy itself.

I would run 2 pumps if I was using a swirl can for serious racing.

interesting question structure.

a single walbro can be run on a 500+ rwhp setup but thats at full potential.

for dos walbritos, you have a few options. you can run both lines into one single bigger line (maybe 10AN) right after the pumps near the back. you could also run two lines (maybe one stock hard line and one 6AN) all the way up near the fuel filter and then use a Y block there. then you could also run two lines just like before and have one routed normally to one end of the rail, and then have the other routed to the back end of the rail. but with this setup, you would want the return to the FRP near the middle of the rail so machining would be required as well as stock fpr hole on rail blocked.

if you dont want to get all complicated, and have between $300 and $400 to spend, then just get a Apexi BNR33 single pump which is capable of 600+ rwhp. I would still run a single 10 AN line with this though and maybe 6AN return.

You can wire up a warning light to the pumps though can't you so if one fails you'll know. But if it faisl when you're racing you probably can't kill the engine quick enough...Don't know asking you.

my current goal is to maybe touch 500rwhp once i get my new turbo. looking more to break 450 though. if a walbro is good to 500 then im happy.

650 Flywheel HP = 550whp (Give or Take)

On top of that you have to realise that the flow rate of the Walbro drops pretty hard after it's rated fuel pressure.

On a 500+whp engine you are running about 60 - 65 PSI of fuel pressure under full load.

THAT is why the big guys use two, and THAT is why the Z32 pump is alot better. Because it is physically larger, and flows an impressive amount more at higher voltages.
