Hi, Can't seem to find anything on upgrading the stock horn on a 2014 Rogue to a Fiamm or Piaa or Hella. Has anyone done that?

I did an upgrade with cadillac horns on an Element, FJ Cruiser and now looking into wifey's Rogue that sounds horrible, I'm sure is a simple mod like the rest, I will look at the space that is free and see if a Cadillac's horn will fit, not ready for this just yet as I have other things in mind to do on my 370Z, but I'm sure is a matter of finding the horn and bracket and a swap will just e a plug and play, will take pictures and post them here

I'm also interested in this upgrade. I kinda feel embarrassed to even use the horn. My altimas way louder.

I was thinking of purchasing the Hella Supertone Horns because of the narrow profile and the lower amps they draw.

One thought is that don't buy aftermarket horns as they're not as good as a horn from a model car such as Cadillac or even a Z, I will attempt this on the long weekend coming up and will call a few yunk yards to see if they have them onhand but Hella horns really have a "loud" sound rather a horn sound, weird to explain...but it may be my ears..

LOL! You may complain about the lousy horn in the Rogue, but for me it is definitely a step up. My last car was a Nissan cube. Talk about a joke horn. It was simply embarassing. My motorcycles all had louder horns than the one on the cube. Nissan called it a 'courtesy horn' and I believe it was designed to not be obnoxious in Japanese urban environments. Fine. But there was no way anyone was ever going to hear that thing on an American highway. And to top it all off, it was a 6 volt horn! :wtf2:

The Rogue horn may be louder (slightly), but it lacks ANY kind of tonal quality. I agree that a Cadillac or Mercedes horn would be an awesome upgrade! Please keep us posted. And surely it must be an easier swap than the hassle of upgrading the horn on a cube.

Thanks for looking into the Cadillac Horn for us HEK, it is much appreciated, I am going to wait for your report on the Caddy Horn before I do anything, but one thing is for certain, the stock Rogue Horn has got to go!

well yesterday while on lunch I found a cadllac horn from a website that I can't access today (not sure if it's blocked here at work) but it was a $14 vs a $65 Nissan OEM horn, don't get it, both seem to be plug and play will see..keep you guys posted sorry it takes so long for me but my plate is full lately and don't get as much free time as I did years ago, working and being a personal trainer at 330 am leaves very little time afterwork that i'm not sleeping..lol

Just a update no actual mod just yet due to my busy schedule even on the holidays. 1st the arm that holds open the hood is not on the actual vehicle ( I thought mine was missing) but is located on the actual hood itself. There are 4 push clips that you will need to remove the center grill but that is where I stopped until I find out in which direction to pull the piece so I don't break anything. I saw the space that the horn is located and there is plenty of room and like I thought it will be a plug and play. The horn I will buy will be like the one on my previous post which has a bracket a + and a - terminal that you can just reuse the one from the Rogue, so on that note I will keep u guys posted and hope to see if I can get my computer savvy wife to do a sound bite and hope to post it. I'm not sure if it's my computer but I seem to have trouble moving around in this site not sure if it's all the advertising going on but just saying :gapteeth:

Hi all,

I ended up going with the Hella Supertones.

It was an easy upgrade but you have to make sure that you use the relay that comes with the horns. If you plug them straight into the connections for the existing horns they will sound very weak because they are not getting enough juice.

The power for mine come straight from an open spot on the fuse box in the engine compartment.

I have them installed on either side of the hood locking post where one of the OEM horns was mounted and they look awesome and are definitely loud - a great improvement and I am very happy with them. I think they are a great horn for the Rogue - more European sounding than North American though so you have to be OK with that.

Of note, the second OEM horn in my car was installed behind the headlight on the drivers side, a bit of a challenge to get at, I just disconnected it, did not bother taking it out. We found the easiest way to get to it was through the wheel well.

Could you post a link to the horns. How long did the entire installation take you?

Hi iRogue,

I purchased the Hella Supertone Horns off of Amazon - just bring up Amazon and search Hella Supertone Horns, make sure you get the kit that comes with the relay.

It takes about 30 minutes to install them, you have to take the front grill off.

A buddy did mine for me.

In order for these horns to work to full capacity (volume) they need to have a direct power source from the battery.

The package comes with instructions.

after a good experience with my 09 rogue (which we still have) we recently got a 15 rogue SV with premium and moonroof. the vehicle makes a nice first impression, but the horn is so small sounding i can't stand it. can anyone offer suggestions as to some options for an aftermarket horn?

thanks!

We have an open thread on the 2nd gen's horns. Merged. If you look to the right side of your screen at the top of the page, you'll notice the big Search link.

I also thought about this, I have a question. IF i were to get a new horn put in, whether of another Nissan car, or I personally like the sound of the Ford Explorer horn, is it something the dealer can do and would it affect the car warranty? Also has anyone had any issues with the horn? I have never done any mods on a car, so I wouldn't want the horn to not work if i pressed on it or something like that.

I thought of doing this as well.. i wanted to wait until peeps reports more about it. As far as warranty is concern, i think small mods , HID lights kits, led light kits, horn, etc will be at the dealer discretion. some will not bother, some will on those small stuff. as long as the small stuff is done correctly you should be fine.. you can always go to the dealer and ask them to install things for you, it may cost much but i believe it will be cover with warrant since its a dealer install item..

The PDF clearly shows two horns, and gives detailed steps on how to access both of them. Exactly what additional info do you need? :gotme

i'm wondering if there is an easy way to access the horns without taking apart the front grille and fender protector....that seems a bit more than i'm willing to do or more precisely, more than i'll be able to do without having my wife pitch a fit about her new car.....i'd also like to know if my new horns would bolt right up or if i'd need to install relays and a new power source (new ckt, inline fuses, additional relays for each new horn...) i'd much rather ask and avoid any issues down the road from those who have done it before.

Is there any way to increase the loudness of the horn. Sounds more like a squeaky horn. :rotfl

I just upgraded mine (2008) to a Hella. Its plug and play (other than removing the front bumper).
If you purchase any 2 horns setup (high and low), you shouldn't need any modification to it.
As for doing it without removing the bumper, I am not sure about the 2nd gen, but for me, the one located at the driver side requires the removal of the bumper in order to get it it. The one in center, I can access it without removing the bumper, but its 10x easier if you do.
