Hello members.... first of all I want to apologize...I'm a Noob.. so forgive me.I just purchased my new Altima, and due to budget constraints had to settle for the basic radio. One of my first tasks is to replace the factory radio with a mid-grade GPS/XM/IPOD system. I would really appreciate any recommendations... and lastly... On the Hybrid packages, the Upgraded system had a feature where you can view the Hybrid/Battery workings? Can you do this with an aftermarket??? Thanks in advance for any responses..

Welcome to NICO.

What kind of budget are you looking at? Also, I highly doubt you will be able to replicate the stock navigation hybrid readout. It is almost certainly internal to that unit. If it were (not likely) some sort of external box, you would be able to tap it in. Without seeing this hybrid diagnostics, or whatever it shows, I can't say for certain.

Thanks for the reply... I don't want to sound cheap, but like to stick under $1000..

Are you just looking to replace the head unit? It will probably run close to a grand for a decent head unit with navigation, xm, ipod and maybe even bluetooth. Speakers would be tough to afford along with that.

Most manufacturers keep the XM module as a separate add-on for the head unit (since not everyone needs/wants it). My personal order of brand preference is Kenwood followed by Alpine followed by Pioneer. I don't know that you'd be disappointed with any of those manufacturers, but I think the Kenwoods right now are the best bang for your buck.

Something like the Kenwood 6160 with the XM module would work very well.

Can I upgrade to the premier audio package head unit and continue to use my existing 6 speakers? I don't really care for Bose but I would like BT, ability to play mp3 etc and the display for rear view. If so where can I get the unit? Will my Nissan dealer be able to get it?

If not what is a good aftermarket solution that will look as close as possible to stock. I don't need navigation, only BT handsfree, audio streaming and if possible touch screen controls. Looking for cheapest solution not essentially the best sounding one.

Thanks guys!
