I realize being an enthusiast leaves me with an obvious answer...but its an economy car with 130hp now... all i have is an AEM cold air intake... but i have problems with going further....

I want to do some moderate changes - Ive done the interior, and audio, and engine intake.... however I itch to do things like drop 3", throw on some 17x7" wheels, catback exhaust with custom headers and downpipe, and probably upgrade the intake manifold and fuel rail... and chip the ECU when my warranty that gets voided by ECU mods, runs out.......

but my problem is... its a Versa... would I even get anywhere by modding it? Im starting with a measly 122 horsepower... the intake probably got me like 5-8 horsepower and a really great engine note, but I have reasons to go forward (desire) and reasons not to (real gains in HP? an economy car isnt designed to perform=epic fail on upgrades?)

as it is, i get ~24MPG and 14k miles on my tires because of my drivign style... Ive had the car for two years and i still enjoy driving it a lot

i would love to do that to my car aswell haha. i dont' care if its an economy car, i just want to have fun with it. i have a video of my car on the dyno w. aem intake and full custom cat-back exhaust, and the gains aren't that much. granted it was a very hot and humid day, i know my car could of pulled more with colder air.here is the thread zerothread?id=365315

Nice thread - thanks but is it just me or are those numbers on the dyno kinda low? With your setup wouldn't you expect at least 130+ HP or does the air temp make that huge of a difference?

And that was my concern - upgrading not doing a whole lot... starting with 120 HP makes it hard to be happy with upgrading anything when you reach even say.. 140 HP, you spend 2 grand to get there and you can't do much else then you just get stuck and say

If you really want to go all out you could try getting your hands on a F4R engine from Nissan's sister company Renault. The F4R is a 2.0L gas engine used in the Clio cup in the UK pushing 197 HP. Or import a K9K 1.5L Diesel engine from a Nissan Tiida.

Just some far out suggestions, I know it's not practical to do but with the right amount of money anything is possible.

BTW the Renault Diesel 1.5L engine get 70.6MPG hwy and 54.3MPG city I would love to have that engine in my Versa!!!

Source of mpg figures come from the Renault GB site at:http://www.renault.co.uk/cars/....aspxthe click on compare and click on the diesel models and go to mpg figures at bottom of page.

I've always wondered if the 2.0l Sentra motor would fit the Versa's engine bay. It's basically the same motor, only larger.

Not worthit at all. The Versa isnt built to be a true tuner vehicle. Even if you get past the engine issues, the 6MT doesnt hold up under added power. Engine swaps arent a good idea either. The chassis isnt really built for thrashing around. The Money to power ratio isnt good. Its a commuter car, plain and simple.

at the wheels the versa dynos at 108hp. im not sure how an intake and exhaust would give you +22hp to reach in the 130+ range. air temp does make a difference. i notice when its night my car has more pull and power with colder air rather than the day where it can pretty hot ex. where i dyno'd my car in long beach, it was 100 out and extremely humid.

i focus on the cosmetic modify only, therefore the lights, spoiler, aero parts, wheels suspension....etc.and of cos , a real nice steering wheel also, which gives me a firm and a good feeling to my hands.

forget about the power output, if you are really into it, you should use that amount of money to purchase a 240sx as a spare car parked in your garage, this beaty got tons of options to be modified and power vs money ratio is much much more efficient, you drive it when you're fancy to go for cruising around.
