Updating an HD based navigation

Just bought a 2008 M35x. I was wanting to update the HD based Navi myself and I've downloaded the Navteq 7.5 file however, I was wondering if anyone here has tried to update their HD based navi before I try this myself.

Btw didn't know the HID's were an option for 2008's, thought they were standard...and just found out mined didn't come with them.

your's doesnt have HID's??? i know that HID's are an option on our cars but dam, i figured whoever purchased your car brand new would at least opt for that. to me not opting for HID's is like not opting for a rear defroster. sure you don't really need it but cmon'.

I know...when I figured it out later in the evening that it didn't come with HID's I was so pissed. I mean who the hell opts for Navigation but not HID's... Oh well still love the car though. Its just annoying.

I'm not 100% certain, but I think the 7.5 DVD is for older versions of the NAV. I think the HD NAV takes 8.x (with the x probably being lower than 5 at this point).

Interesting, good to know before I eff up my navi setting. I've been searching on the internet and through the service manuals here on the forums. Couldn't find much on the internet on how to update the system other than having to take it to the dealer. The forum doesn't have the service manual for 2008+ but looking at some of the 2008 service manuals for the other infiniti's it looks as though they all use a device called the Consult III which doesn't help.
