I heard it was being re-skinned and ran as something else??

I think it would have been a little cheaper to run a tub car and develop the engine than to start out with a full tube chassis car from new jigs with new engines! Monumental task!!

Anyone here deny or confirm that Grand Am will have Crawford spec tube chassis' in the near future?

The pics of this G35 chassis.. sure do look a LOT like the Crawford Corvette and the Crawford Pontiac. My trained eye says they are all running the same chassis with different powerplants and different skins. Sounds like the making of a Nascar series.. oh wait.. Grand Am is owned by Nascar..LOL

Well, let's see - where to begin.

Yes, Crawford Race Cars LLC builds tube frame race cars for Grand-Am competition, both Daytona Prototype and GT classes.

Currently, they have GT class cars run as a Corvette (#57 Stevenson), Mustang (#15 Blackforest), and Infiniti (#45 HLM). But Crawford is not the only manufacturer of tube frame cars in Grand-Am, including Riley (#69 & #70 Mazda RX-8 wih a leat two more sold for 2008), Georgian Bay Motorsports (Corvettes, multiple), and others. The Grand-Am 'Prep 2' rules package allows anyone to build a tube frame GT car, so in no way will GARRA-GT ever be a Crawford chassis spec series.

The current rumor discussions involve Max Crawford taking over the competition of these 2 Team HLM Infiniti cars. Whether they remain Infiniti powered is yet to be seen. I expect the season finale 9 Hour SunChaser at Miller Motorsports Park might shed a little light for us.

But you correct that the basic chassis design is the same for all Crawford GT cars, with tweaks & modifications for engines & body parts. Although, a real close examination of the Blackforest Mustang shows slightly different suspensions. I can't explain it either.

But with the Pratt & Miller Pontiac GTO.R / GXP.R and the Nissan 350Z cars, there is plenty of diversity in Grand Am GT. Next year will also see the reintroduction of some new Prep 1 chassis' too. Stay tuned, it's all good stuff. Plus I see there is a Ferrari entered for Miller too.
