Got some more pics of the progress I've made on my RB25 swap.

Only have a few more things left to do and then I'm acquiring some stock fuel components to try to eliminate variables in getting it running.

If you see any wiring or fuel problems (visable) please feel free to bash me so that I may correct them.

Please make fun of my welds, they suck (aesthetically) but hold fairly well.

Looks nice, welding with flux core? Whereabouts in Georgia are you at? Give us a call at the shop if you need any help.

True. Gas hookup....thats a good question. Did I talk to you at nopi? I had a guy in a 240 with sr20 call someone on their phone that had brought a Rb20'd 240 and I thought I talked to an Eric...

Edit: must have been you because I have a red/white E&E motorsports business card that I got from the person I talked to.

good buildup. i have one question; would a swap like this be able to be done by a 17 yr old working part time and still in highschool? i'm asking because i'm getting another car soon (totalled my old one) and i'm wanting a 240sx more and more. however, ka24's are weak, and i've been looking at the rb25det. how much have you put into this swap and how much more do you plan to invest before your car is running?

This car has around $15k invested including the car.

If you have the money, then yes, because you will have lots of time being at home. I'm a junior in college and I dont have much time to make the 2.5 hour drive homr and work on it.

Thats me, those are my cards, and the RB20'd HB was Jeremy's, we had finsihed it up a couple of days before. I had the burgandy KA-T car, partial Kouki front end, no front bumper just FMIC, and no hood, just turbo, we weren't finished before Nopi. tpeezy, with any of the RB swaps, it helps if you have a spare car, because sometimes parts take a while to get if they break. The initial cost is the main thing, 20's can be done for a good bit cheaper than 25's and 26's.

But if you're gonna do it, might as well do it while you don't have many bills.

how much of a difference is there between the rb20's and 25's? both cost and number wise. i want to do it now because i'll be attending college in the next two years and i want something to enjoy outside of classes -_-.

Pricewise the 25 is anywhere from 1500 to 2500 more than the 20, depending where and what you get, with the 20 you only need mounts, the 25 you need a driveshaft. Other than that the rest is your time.

I had one question. If you are using the powerfc, doesn't that allow you to run a MAP sensor? Any reason of going w/a MAF?

Arg...check out the KA-T forum...KAs are not "weak", the only people who really think that are those who have worked on them and had bad luck due to poor tuning, or 15 year olds who read Super Street. If you're in HS, you probalby won't have the funds to actually complete a properly done RB25 swap. YOu can turbo your stock KA for pretty cheap and get reliable low to mid 200s whp. Or get a CA or something. But an RB25 is not a cheap swap once you factor in engine mounts, driveshaft, new clutch, etc.

ah i see. yes, funds are something that i'm quite worried about. what about sr20's? i've heard those are fairly easy swaps; however, their prices are going up becuase of high demands. originally that's what i was thinking, but then rb25's prices are the same as sr20's w/o mounts, driveshaft, clutch, wiring, etc.

If you're trying to get it to run right, it is taking a reading from the o2 sensor, and if you're o2 sensor is in that downpipe, then it will get bogus readings. It will think that it is running really lean because it is sucking in oxygen from all of the unwelded sections in the dp. You'd be better unplugging the o2 sensor if you were actually trying to use one, or just get it welded up nicely so that there aren't pinholes allowing it to suck in o2 and mess up the readings.

I really think those are just tack welds to hold everything in place while the pipe is being built.

Yeah, I know that; I weld myself also..but if he runs it like that, the o2 will be way off.

ALso, this may be obvious, but you did cap off that little hose on the intake elbow right? That plastic tube coming off it? ANd also, clamps on the couplers on the maf and turbo? Otherwise it won't run right at all.

THose were just tacks... I finished the downpipe already. All hoses have clamps, and the intake elbow has the PCV hose running back into it from the catch can and the bov is rerouted in the bottom side of the intake elbow.

thats gonna be nice when you get done man couple observations

the brake master cylinder and lines look awfully close to the hot side of the turbo and you gotta due something else about that coolant line otherwise your gonna one day mess it up i can guarantee you that....earls sells lotsa fitting up to and including 180 degree hose ends
