Here are a couple pics showing where I'm at on my MGB/CA18DET swap.

The top one shows my oil pan/crossmember issue. Question: Are there any versions of the CA18 that use a rear sump oil pan? If not I'll fab one up, but it'd be easier to just swap it.

The second pic shows my driver side clearance with manifold/turbo removed. There's no way the turbo is going to work in the stock location, so I guess I'll be fabbing a manifold for that . I can't go top mount for hood clearance reasons, but I have plenty of room up toward the front since I don't have any A/C or P/S, and lots of fender room (no strut towers in these cars). Question: Where can I get a DIY manifold kit for this engine?

As far as I know, this is the first time anyone has put a CA in a MGB so I'm trying to document my work somewhat (kinda bad at that sorta thing). I know you guys are Nissan guys, I hope you don't mind! I'll try to keep you updated on the project, and will definately be bugging you for info on this drivetrain.

It won't be a rubber bumper when I'm done . I'm planning on Sebring valances front and rear, but haven't decided which grill yet. Then I'll paint it up in BRG with white racing stripes.

Could you run a remote brake booster? that would give you room. Over in nz you can get them off old hillmans. not sure if they were sold in the us, but they were sold everywhere else.

I could take some pics of it now, but they wouldn't look right because the engine's sitting about 3" too high due to the oil pan/crossmember. The brake booster dosen't cause too much problem as it's about on level with the valve cover (that pic is straight from the top), the problem is more with the steering shaft/floor pan getting in the way of the downpipe. I'm thinking it may be easier to just relocate the turbo than deal with modifing the other stuff. Plus mounting it up near the front and farther from the engine should make it a little more user friendly for doing turbo swaps/mods.

I've got another question. Did they make a crankshaft pulley for only one belt? I'm probably going to have some slight pulley/steering rack conflict and only need the one belt anyway. Thanks!

You can use a ca16de of a 1987 pulsar, it had two belts instead of 3 belts(ca18det).

Rafi, Isn't the FWD CA use a rear sump pan? If so, all he'd have to do to clear his crossmember is get the sump and pan from a Pulsar.

You're more familiar with the FWD CA's than I am...

Thanks!

OH well, custom pan and sump it is. The sump should be relativly easy though, and any decent machine/welding shop should be able to fabricate an oil pan.
