Well as some may know, my motor was in the machine shop for almost 4 months until last weekend. I started building it up last weekend and finished the core build today. Still have all of the accessories to mount, but the block is sealed and finished. Here are the pics so far...Full size pictures can be seen here: http://mp-racing.net/Gallery/rb26

that's getting kind of lame... most threads say that same thing, but to me, it's the difference between getting the engine or buying a whole new car. 10-15K is somewhat reasonable. between 15 and 20K, you have to consider whether you want that...or say, an evo.

Meh, money is only fun when you spend it. I need a loan badly to continue my projects though, but I hate owing money, never had to borrow any before...

damn that's hot.

when you installed your baffle did you drill out those drain holes like it shows in the directions? if you did would you mind telling me the size bit you used? thanks.

skylinegrl13: Yes I did drill out the holes in the pan. The bit you are suppose to use is a 5mm bit. I did not have a 5mm bit in my garage, so I just used a 3/16" bit which is equal to 4.7625mm.

One tip though, the hole you have to drill in the far right of my picture...you need a much longer bit and you need to be careful not to break bits because it has a tendency to bind over there.

Looks good man! Keep it up. Did you install any Tomei oil restrictors in the block?

Own3r - To build an RB, it will cost about 10-15k depending on the hardware. You could build it with Pauter rods and Mahle pistons and those pieces alone would run you about $3000. I took a slightly cheaper route and used GTR rods with forged pistons so I saved about $800 there. There's so much variablity because people go different directions and are satisfied by different levels of quality. Take kjlindgr. His build would have cost upwards of $25k if he hadn't done so much of it himself.

true, i love that uniqueness factor. but the warranty would be nice. i don't have the time, the garage, nor the patience if it breaks down all the time.
