Here is my PVC mock up of the ic piping, just buy at home depot and return all the bends when your done...

The mess I made in the garage chopping up all the mandrel bends...

The final product after being welded together and spending countless freakin hours grinding down all the weld with my trusty dremel

And finally the reason why I had to go custom... That is a GTR Cooler and yes I know the blitz logo is upside down(It will be removed and the entire cooler will be sprayed black)

Final step is to send all the pieces off to powedercoating to have them match my valve covers...

Total Cost:

PVC Piping - Free (Return after you done with the bends)Mandrel Piping - $100BOV Flange - $10Welding - $50 (I don't have a welder)PowderCoating - $100(i'm guessing)Couplers and Clamps - $100Chopping, Grinding, Fitting - $0(Just gallons of sweat and tears)

Total - $360

Not bad if I do say so myself!!! :ylsuper

I would not recommend spraying the front of the intercooler, as any paint that gets inside the fin area will reduce heat transfer. It would be best to paint just the very tips of the fins... perhaps black ink and an ink pad would work better for that.

Of course with an intercooler that large maybe heat transfer will never be an issue!

Did you rent a MIG welder for $50?

No I just took the pipe to an exhaust shop, for the bov and air inlet, I took it to Road Race Engineering to have done. As for the IC, I will be spraying it with some Radiator Paint I bought from eastwood.com, so it should be ok. I just don't want it to be noticeable. (Cops are d!ck around here)

Could you post up some pictures when you're done painting? I really want to see how the car looks from the front with the IC painted. I like looking sleeper and a huge front mount really scares away a lot of people.
