I thought that my car could use a lil update.

About three weeks ago, I installed a Griffin radiator. That has went well. Cooling temps are definatly lower. No water temp gauge, but damn if it doesn't take 10min+ to warm up... The only new parts for that swap were the radiator, silicone couplers, and a piece of 1.5" aluminum pipe. I used the stock AC fan wired to run constant and the stock clutch fan. Definately made a difference!

I have also installed Pilot F&R STBs. Slight difference in body roll reduction. Other than that, nothing orgasmic about them.

I have been daily driving the car as always at no less than 14psi to work, out on dates with the GF, random and senseless driving in attempts to find anything fast to race, grocery getting, ect ect. Biggest problem as of yet is spark blowing out. MSD is on the way. Every so often, esp on cold nights, I will blow out spark at 14-15psi. I ordered iridium NGKs and installed at a .028" gap and still no dice. It is terrible at like 17-18psi. Positive that it is spark miss because the night I tried to boost 18psi, it missed like a fat guy trying to hit a slim fast, but at 14psi, its pretty much fine.

I now have 5 gallons of 100 octane sitting in my garage. I'm going to go for 400whp at about 20psi sometime before April 10th when I leave for the Navy. I figure that if I won't be needing my car much after I'm in the Navy that I can at least use it for the good of the KA community and join the other few poineers of pushing the stock block KA. I'll prolly just do slight street tuning at 20psi, then straight to the dyno I go. Yea, it might be a dyno queen, but you know what? The dyno queen club is open to everyone!

Anyways, thats what has been going on with my car...

arent s14 internal coils stronger and less likely to blow out spark than a s13 coil?

Gratz on the car and the upcoming achievements.

But most importantly, thank you for your service to our nation. Keep your head down, don't volunteer for anything and make sure you can keep posting on this forum after all is said and done.

Damn dude nice!

No suprise youre blowing out spark with just the stock system and that much boost. Hell, even with a MSD system at 20psi I was gapping down to like .025-.024"!

I love your car man but if youre gonna push it farther than that lol, I'd be sure you've got AAA.

You need to take off that stock fan, w/o a shroud it is just draining precious HP.

um he has no stock coil..................he runs an msd blaster ss with his wiring mod which i must say makes a difference up top. but at his psi, i think he will have to bite the bullet for an msd box or something else. yes, lets see the 20psi numbers as i think ur to going cross that 400 mark (or at least get VERY VERY close to it)

too bad you dont have more time

if you ask me, the amount it can hold for a very short time (a few dyno runs) isnt as important as how much it can hold over a long period of time

as foster proved, the stock rods can hold a certain power for so long, then they simply fatigue to the point of breaking

so i guess my question is, how many miles did you have on it at whatever boost you were running for an extended period of time, around 12-14 i guess?

I've been driving prolly 100 miles a week or so at 14-16psi for about two months now. Then 12psi for two months before that. The car has been turbo'd for over a year and a half.

I boost my car daily. Usually 10 times-20 times a day once a week when in town messing with ricers and ****.

this is going to be one fast @ss 240 with stock block. and yeah, its your 240 and you can do whatever the hell you want with it. but i have to say...your boost appetite looks like its pretty difficult to satisfy lol....good luck

Once again, nice work! Good luck on hitting your goal.

Its "Platinums+boost=bad idea" Iridiums are fine for boost.

It is a universal radiator, but ideally it fits an SR.

Man, 14 psi daily on a stock block, that is dope! Just shows you how reliable the KA is when in the right hands. Yaa goodluck hitting that 400whp.
