Hi Everybody! <waiting for response> ...Oh. I guess I'm not as popular as Dr. Nick.

Well it has literally been months since I posted on the board, but here I am for now. I promised to keep everyone up to date on the situation with HPD, so here I go:

For those who don't know, there was a raid on a piece of property frequented by car enthusiasts. About 300 people were arrested, including a little girl trying to eat some ice cream at Sonic. The media uproar brought several officials into question.

Now: Capt. Mark Aguirre - the leader of the raid - was fired and was indicted on charges of official oppression. The sad part, however, is that he got away with it. The jury declared him not guilty. They stated that he appeared to be a scapegoat and that someone higher up on the ladder is to blame. This may be true, but he still issued the order for the mass arrest. Now no one will be punished for this abuse of power.

The cool part about the media attention is a major flaw within HPD was later exposed. Their crime lab was so poorly run that over 300 cases are now being submitted for new DNA tests. I wonder how this will turn out.

How's everyone been? I miss this board. I'll try to post a little bit more frequently from now on.

p.s. for mods: Great job with the BB, it looks nice.

Once again... love the avatar, Spectre!!

And yes... you should hang around more often.

Anyway... problems with crime labs have been known to turn over lots of cases and unfortunately guilty people sometimes get set free. Conversely... some innocent parties might get retribution as well!

Sucks to hear that your local cops are dinks.... hopefully they will get theirs.

<graciously accepts props for avatar> Thanks man. The Wall has my favorite Pink Floyd songs, and the movie is one of my favorites. I'm considering finding one for "A Clockwork Orange"

A few cases have been overturned, but the City of Houston is having to scrounge up the money to pay other crime labs to do the rest of the tests. Speaking of money, I wonder how HPD will fare out with all of the lawsuits, especially the one spearheaded by the ACLU.

I still feel lucky that I didn't get rounded up in the raid; that Sonic was my hangout spot on Saturday nights, I was just lucky enough to be at a last minute gathering.

Fred: Okay that sux with the old Q. Did you get messed up in the wreck? You're obviously still alive, unless the Army demanded that you finish your term and you're working as a ghost. What do you think of the new Q? The "BAD" description peaked my interest.
